I don’t keep spiders. I don’t plan on ever keeping spiders... but this is absolutely my favorite KZbin channel right now. Watching your passion for this hobby is inspiring and the way you treat your beasties has changed the way I see all spiders. I now catch them around the house and release them outside instead of killing them. Thanks!!

I've been keeping reptiles, amphibians and arachnids for 36 years now and I used to breed tarantulas. I currently only have 1 tarantula now. She's a pink zebra beauty. As my tarantulas have grown old and passed away I've switched to keeping native spiders for the most part. I keep false widows, cellar spiders, wolf spiders, jumping spiders, fishing spiders and woodlouse spiders. All of them are extremely interesting. The downside is that native spiders have a much shorter lifespan but I guess that can be kinda seen as an advantage too. When a specimen passes away you can get a new one or try a completely new species all together. All spiders are fun to observe.

The way you've decorated her enclosure is first rate and you can see she appreciates it. These spiders with way their 2 larger eyes face forward gives them an almost human look. I can see now that the spiders I kept pulling out of my pool were probably not wolf spiders after all and now idk what they are. I need to investigate this cause there's a bunch of them here in south Florida. A load of insects somehow land on the pool's surface and so eventually wind up in the skimmer and whatever type spider keeps showing up in there I now realize was no doubt just taking advantage of an all you can eat buffet.

I just absolutely, love this channel! As always, very educational and interesting, too say the least. I especially found this one intriguing,🤔because of the extra information that I was able to learn. I'm from the deep Southern part of the "USA 🇺🇲!" We see these particular type of, "Carolina Wolf Spiders," everywhere. It's not odd too look down and see a MaMa Wolf, casually carrying a ton of little babies on her back. (😆LOL) I have twin children and I've been worn out for yrs., 😉 much less a 100 or so hanging on! ❣ Mother Nature is just beautiful! Again, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the world. Thanks for the reply Dave. I have kept tarantulas for 20 years but have never bred any. I love these spiders! The arrangement of their eyes, with the two big ones above others, makes a “face” and they are so alert and active, honed as an effective hunter by many millions of years of evolution. I’m glad you are spreading the word and planning to help other keepers get captive-bred wolf spiders of their own. All the world’s very wide variety of spiders are marvels that reward close observation, but I’ve always been especially fond of jumping spiders and wolf spiders because of their seeming cleverness and responsiveness. Such tiny, fragile creatures to be so bold. Lovely enclosure, with the lush moss and weathered wood. Interesting how different their courtship and copulation behavior are compared to other spiders you have showed us. Imagine how long their ancestors have been doing this without anyone to watch except each other. So cool how her babies ride her back for protection. Your play-by-play commentary is priceless.

These spiders have an amazing looking carapace, in Australia, they're everywhere, but they also have the most awesome camouflage so usually they go unnoticed, as is the purpose of such coloration, i usually only notice them when I'm gardening, or moving things around in my garage and practically pick one up, inducing a little squeel, and maybe a little bit of poo!.🤣. Until I subbed to this channel, I had an irrational fear of all spiders and would either run, or squish them.. sometimes both,.. Please forgive me for admitting this, but such was my fear and hatred of them... Till now, now I just leave them be, though not before taking a picture of them... Dave's beasties has saved many many spiders due to his sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for all spiders and scorpions..Your teaching us just how misunderstood and unnecessarily persecuted these creatures really are, has proven so true in my life, So thanks to Dave and the beastie crew, especially the beasties themselves. 👍😃
