THE SUDAN WAR - IS IT A FORGOTTEN WAR OR IS A CIVIL WAR IMMINENT? PLO Lumumba. World on Fire ep4.
Sudan is currently at war, and it is a forgotten war. The war in Sudan has not been highlighted as much and does not also receive media attention it deserves. There are several forces involved and even more proxies in this war. Who will stand for the people of Sudan?
On this episode of LUMUMBA Explains, he digs into the war in Sudan and why the world is quiet about it. The African Union has not yet been keen on negotiating for peace in Sudan. The Intergovernmental Authority on Development Africa (IGAD) had fronted Kenya as the lead peace negotiator, but Sudan rejected this move as they didn’t find Kenya a fair arbitrator. Sudan is huge in size and resources and the war has an impact across the African continent both on the economic front and further on humanitarian crisis. Who is benefitting from this war when Africa is pushing for the silencing of the guns? The concern now for all should be, is a civil war imminent?

I'm from Sudan, and I have been following professor Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba's lectures for over a decade. I have always been amazed by his remarkable skills and insights when analyzing African affairs. To the point, and after one year into this deadly war in Sudan; I promise you that no one has ever explained it as it's; in reality. All media outlets present this issue from the angle of their benefits and agenda, and it always goes stray. If African leaders are interested in the interests of their countries and people; all Africans in diaspora will return back to Africa. Thank you guys for all the work and love... shoot for the moon!

Thank you, Prof Lumumba, for bringing this up; the Sudanese conflict is becoming more complex as many players have their interests and agendas. In addition to what you said regarding the supporters who are fulfilling this war, the UAE's role in the crisis is obvious by injecting money, weapons, etc., but what is surprising is the absence of an African vision to find a solution to this crisis.

Thanks a lot prof Lumumba, The conflicts in Sudan, Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso are all part of a larger struggle for liberation from colonization, like a war of decolonization. Its been known that RSF militia are suported by UAE and some EU counteries; in order to take Sudan's resources...and they sold some african leaders in AU and kinia and ethiopia and tchad, unfortunatly. It's interesting to see how similar movements for independence and decolonization have emerged in various regions. These struggles often share common themes and goals. We will win the war against RSF and thier supporters.

@komiMusaBar With all due respect you really don't understand what is going on in the current war of Sudan and this is reflected in the reckless words which you have written . The truth is that the RSF is fighting theas a proxy puppet for a well known rich country in the middle East and they have committed henious crimes such as rape, looting, , unlawfull detention and extrajudicial killing and occupation of homes were innocent civilians were living . These crimes were confirmed by many independent international organisations and moreover by mobile phones of the RSF members who have shared such films in the media without any pity or remorse the crimes they committed. How could you say with such ignorance and lack of info sa( that the Sudanese army is fighting for its own intersts and for the arab world !!!!! ) while the truth is that they are actually fighting a war as all armies in all nations would do defending the lives, property and integrity of millions of victimised Sudanese civilians in order to expell the RSF bandits and their foreign mercenaries from homes of innocent unarmed civilians . Africa is a contintent which has many brilliant intellectual brains like this professor but sadly it's organisations like the AU and EGAD are also plagued by many incompetent leaders and corrupt heads of state who never had the courage to denounce the inhumane and terrible crimes committed by the RSF and their mercenaries against the innocent unarmed civilians in Sudan yet still are very vocal against the Sudanese army . The people of Sudan deserve and expect solidarity, and a more honest , non -biased and decent attitude expressing genuine African brotherhood in the face of such horrendous crimes by the RSF against unarmed innocent civilians.

@@KomiMusaBarlaman-ds3qy I am Sudanese myself, the role of former regime and its party (Muslim brotherhood party) are undobtly obvious. Some people insist to bring out the RSF crimes and deliberately oversight the role of Muslim brotherhood in controlling the army behind the scenes. Burhan is their puppet as well as Hemdti is the Emarati's puppet. Burhan and Hanedti are war criminals. They used to be allies and led a coup against the revolution transitional government after Sudan revolution. Both sides are bad, you're right.

Sudan is one of the active countries and has a presence and contributions at the global, continental, and regional levels, and in neighboring countries. Refugee migrations were flowing to it along its vast borders. It had a role in resolving conflicts, especially in the Arab and African regions alike. It also had an effective role in the League of Arab States, the Organization of African Unity, and other countries. Non-Alignedness and the Organization of the Islamic Conference also contributed to standing with the liberation movements and a large support for international and regional organizations, and it always played the role of positive neutrality in resolving political conflicts in the Middle East and the African continent, and now when it stumbled in resolving its political crisis, which turned into a military conflict and a fierce war that destroyed, killed, and displaced, and is still doing so. Its fire is raging, and everyone has abandoned it, whether it is the United Nations, the Arab League, the Organization of African Unity, or even the Islamic Conference. This is for history. We thank those who had and participated, even if only by opinion, and we thank you for that.
