To immediately state something, this is the sequel of The Suffering, in the first game, the setting started in a massive prison island, full of violence, the common monsters are the same there, because they're meant to represent the multiple execution methods used on death row, beheadings, firing squad, hangings, buried alive, drug overdosing and a few extra.

In the first game, the monster origins were based around executions, and the story has a more cohesive and comprehensive. Slayer = Beheading/Guillotine MainLiner = Lethal Injection Inferna (Boss)/ = Burned Alive Fester = Numerous Tortures of Slavery Hermes (Boss) = Gas Chamber Marksman = Firing Squad Nooseman = Hanging Burrower = Buried Alive Doctor Killjoy (Boss) = Prison Doctors/Malpractice Horace (Boss) = Electric Chair

A fun fact I learned about the first suffering game is that the monsters were designed by Stan Winston the same guy who made the predator and terminator designs!

You should react to the first game’s monsters. They’re same, but each of those monsters represents prison executions, and Carnate Island’s history is very dark compare to Baltimore. Fun fact Stan Winton, the legendary special effects artist who created The Alien and Predator costumes, also help made the monsters in this game. Also Blackmore is the main character himself. He’s fighting against his inner most demon, which is himself. The monster form that you see in the game is all in his head. He sees himself as a monster. In our eyes we see him, but in reality he is ripping and tearing those monsters with his bare hands. This game is a psychological horror rather than straight up horror.

The ties that Bind is a sequel. You have to play the Suffering which is the first game. And it's a about Torque the inmate framed for killing his family, they kind of spoiled some things in this video. They shouldn't have, but you should still play It if you can. It's very emotional and very well done.

Ah, the game best described as Max Payne meets Silent Hill, if you liked this i recommend checking out The first Suffering game's monsters the first one just being called "The Suffering". You'll see familiar creatures but also "new ones" as well.

I HIGHLY recommend yall play the games if yall get the chance. This was made by Midway before the went Bankrupt and became Netherrealm studios. It's a Action Survival Horror horror game that is surrounded around the *supposed* Murderer Torque. He was sent to Prison after supposedly killing his own family, it's almost like Silent Hill in the way that monsters are shafted in metaphorical means with these ones being based around forms of execution and life around the city. There's alot more to it involving cultist experimentation revolving around the mysterious yet helpful Doctor Killjoy and Torque himself being a focus as he battles his inner demons and sometimes has to utilize it (in the form of the creature yousaw him turn into). The Game is also based upon choices, certain Bosses like the The Hunter and The Pimp are faced depending on your morality. If you're Good you face the Hunter, if your bad you face the Pimp. It's a kickass classic that doesn't get enough attention.

Yeah, i used to play it, at like 7-9 years old, i got the gyst of the story, Torque, an inmate who was (or possibly even did, since there is a moral system ingame) convicted of killing his family. His conviction was the first game, where these "monsters" seemingly come out of nowhere.(and there is a similar video of the bestiary "Clem's Journal" which you both should check out, my favorite is the Hangman). This game focuses more on Torque's story, and his surrounding city Baltimore, along with their Big Players, Blackmore and the other "boss" characters. I think I still have my ps2 copy of The Suffering: Ties That Bind.

Damn, the first game is so damn good, shame you haven't started with it, I've finished it multiple times. I really love and respect this game because it's a smart, psychological horror, it doesn't goes for just vulgar shock value, it being gruesome has a point. There's moral questions, lessons, choices. Also really cool action and even funny moments, and yes, amazing monster designs, symbolizing various crimes and execution methods, not just made off random (buried alive, cutting the head, firing squad, burning little girls in witchery accusations, etc.). Also interesting how the same monsters from the first game have different symbolism in the second one, due to location changes (same monster can represent not certain execution method, but certain type of street violence for example). Amazing voice acting, atmosphere, charismatic characters... Amazing game all around, the first one that is, sequel is good enough but weakier, I haven't finished it (but I should!). Dr. Killjoy is my favorite character, so damn charismatic and is not pure evil, he tried to do good (and still does), but with very questionable methods, but more so due to the cursed island from the first game driving him more and more immoral, while having such tendencies to begin with... Very underrated games, I think Ken might like to play them even. Start with the first one, however there's various technical troubles oh, I wish there was a remaster... Well gaming wiki should have fixes for that. Oh another thing is that you can play it both 3rd and 1st person! I've always preferred the 3rd more, more atmosphere (and less scary xD).

The first boss you see is named Copperfield a insane and sadistic slave hunter who not only hunts slaves fleeing to the north. When he found the slaves he set his rabid dogs on them. Hence, he is the Mauler's master. The second is named The Creeper. He was a pimp who became a serial killer and at first it was prostitutes he killed even the girls in his employment even those who weren't. Eventually he targeted any woman no matter what occupation they held.

I would recommend checking out Cry of Fear. It's a free horror game that came out in 2013 and it is literally one of the best horror experiences in the history of gaming.

The suffering and the Suffering Ties that Bind have multiple endings based on the Morality levels, Good, Neutral and Evil Spoilers Below In the First game if you where good it is revealed that Torque didn't kill his family and when he blacked out people were sent to his house to kill them but not you, and you leave the Island with a member of the coast guard who tells you new evidence came up and you're to be given a retrial. In Neutral you black out and accidentally killed your ex-wife and while high on rock and witnessing the murder your son Cory murders his brother in the bathtub and throws himself out the window killing himself. The coast guard shows up and is about to take you to the mainland so you can go to another prison you pistol whip him in the back of the head knocking him out and taking the boat. Evil, you killed them all when the coast guard shows up you turn into the creature and kill him by crushing it with a steel crate and run back to the island. The beginning of Ties that Bind is actually on these endings. Ending of Ties that Bind Good, Torque erases Blackmore and him and the spirit of Karmen and embrace Neutral, Torque cannot kill Blackmore and vice versa, they realize they are stuck in a perpetual loop. Evil, Blackmore takes over Torque's body and he and the blond woman that leads the foundation make out. Then It turns out both endings have variations on the second game. Good-Good Blackmore sent the goons to scare your family not kill them. Good-Neutral he sent them to kill your family Good Evil, you had Blackmore send them to kill your family cause they were holding you back.

If you get a chance, you should check out the EX-Actions from Lost Judgement. It’s a sequel to the game Judgement, which is a spin-off of the Yakuza series. Same setting and timeline, but brand new characters. Yagami, unlike Kiryu, is on the side of the law as a Private Investigator. His EX-Actions work just like Heat Actions, but except for a few recycled from Kiryu, they’re less brutal. I say Lost Judgement rather than Judgement cause they have the same actions, but Lost Judgement adds some more in a new fighting style Also fun fact, Judgement was the first time in years that RGG Studios did an English dub ever since the original Yakuza. Because of how successful it was, English dubs were reintroduced

Please look at the original game called "The Suffering Prison Is Hell". You should definitely play this game its one of the best underrated and forgotten hidden gem games ever. The ones from the previous game that didn't return are the Nooseman, Fester, Inferna, Horace, and Hermes. Since I played both games I think the enemies that annoyed me the most I would say Hermes, Mauler, Gorger, Inferna and Arsonist, Dr Killjoy cause getting to him is a bitch, Triggerman, Burrower, Fester, The final boss of the first game, Copperfield, and Mainliner.
