It was nice to see Harley Quinn was done well. While it was odd seeing the dictator propose to Quinn, the dictator scene displayed her personality almost beautifully. @rafaelkresmar39983 жыл бұрын
Additionally that whole scene ends with her getting delusional, seeing stars and roses, it's implied that none of the Harley scenes actually happened like that and that it's just what happened in her mind given how we see her unrealistic hallucinations. Yeah she freed herself from her imprisonment but did she really kill a hundred guys on her way out? Would the women working in the office above her really not have heard any gunshots and called the cops? Would the team or the taxi driver not have heard any of the chaos that supposedly happened there? Was it mostly just her Mental Illness making her think that's what happend?

I give this film a 7. I mean, it's entertaining but then again..... comparisons are inevitable. Unlike most people, I loved Ayer's Suicide Squad ( I give it a solid 9 ), why ? because it is dark as hell an much more in line with Snyderverse's ethos ( in other words, it feels more like a Vertigo comic than a mainstream DC comic ). Gunn's The Suicide Squad feels too cheesy on its humor to my taste ( for example, Waller repeating the same description for Peacemaker and Bloodsport or scolding her team for not checking that Weasel couldn't swim ). It feels too meeehhh. The other problem is presenting Waller and most of her team as kind of incompetent, whereas in Ayer's film Waller is presented as a person with ruthless efficiency who would make sure none of her "team" will say a peep. Where is Gunn's film the Waller that would put a bullet through the head of one of her "team member" just because fucking it up ?. Why is the Waller in Gunn's film so incompetent he let herself down her guard an allow her "team members" to knock her down with a golf stick ?. It just feels like a complete waste to transform Waller into a clown in Gunn's film. The gore is a plus in this movie, it is used with the right dramatic effect, specially during Harley's breakout scene. Then again, I am not a fun of the "humor" of ridiculing the rest of the team, even if they were ignorant about the situation. To be honest, I prefered Ayer's take on the squad dynamics, making them feel the tension but without the slapstick nonsense. I'd say that those who liked Ayer's dark take on the suicide squad will say, "yeah, this film is OK but meh", whereas those who disliked it will be really hyped about Gunn's take on it.
@rafaelkresmar39983 жыл бұрын
Peoples taste are different and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, obviously but I'm honestly surprised by this comment. I didn't think Ayer's take was dark at all and honestly I very much prefer Waller being so overconfident that no one is going to do anything against her that she gets blindsided by her seemingly pussywhipped teammates rather than that disgusting depiction of the Joker. Jared Leto's Joker was only watchable under the assumption that it's actually Jason Todd who got tortured by the Joker into becoming the new Joker. Him joking about whoring out Harley Quinn to random nobodies really didn't seem dark but rather like an pathetic attempt at being edgy. Deadshot being just some "poor family man who just wants to provide for his Daughter" also wasn't dark but rather a very obvious attempt at manipulating the viewer into feeling bad for this guy. Or the scene where they suddenly decide to go against the Enchantress because "they want to prove themselves" or whatever it also didn't seem believeable. On the other hand there's the new Suicide Squad which is a black humor selfaware cheesy comedy movie, unlike the 2016 movie the 2021 one doesn't take itself seriously and openly admits and mocks all it's own flaws making it very clear that this movie is just for entertainment and not trying to do any moral lessons. HOWEVER I also thought Joss Whedons Justice League was terrible and that it was probably because Whedon had to somehow make the Snyder stuff work only for me to than see the Snyder Cut and think it's one of the best in recent history and sure it feels an hour too long but that movie is also 4 hours long. So who knows maybe there's actually an cut of that movie that would make that Joker acceptable but the original release version was terrible in my opinion

It did not have the woke nonsense thankfully but it was blatantly anti-American. There was no real villain in the movie, just the United States. Supposedly, the US started the whole evil starfish project. Amanda Waller was "defending her country" by being an out on control lunatic. And John Cena's character was supposed to be a caricature of an American patriot. Both characters turned into villains by the end of the movie. Did anyone else pick up on this?
