It was nice to see Harley Quinn was done well. While it was odd seeing the dictator propose to Quinn, the dictator scene displayed her personality almost beautifully. Her over the top combat scene was unrealistic how she didn’t get shot or take any damage however it showed how Harley fights, with weapons, accuracy, agility and cleverness rather than going physically toe to toe with men twice her size.
@rafaelkresmar3998
@rafaelkresmar3998 3 жыл бұрын
Additionally that whole scene ends with her getting delusional, seeing stars and roses, it's implied that none of the Harley scenes actually happened like that and that it's just what happened in her mind given how we see her unrealistic hallucinations. Yeah she freed herself from her imprisonment but did she really kill a hundred guys on her way out? Would the women working in the office above her really not have heard any gunshots and called the cops? Would the team or the taxi driver not have heard any of the chaos that supposedly happened there? Was it mostly just her Mental Illness making her think that's what happend?

@@greygorygaming No. That the American government or some CIA-type organization was funding the blah blah blah is not--on its own--what I was talking about. (It's cliche as hell, but that's something else.) Rather, it's how the movie refers to these things that sounded very much like the lazy bumper sticker criticisms from 2000s-era college students: broad, generic disdain for America based on the presumption that, because America is imperfect, anything it did/does/will do is to be scorned--in blanket terms--as incomparably evil. They did indulge in a few tired tropes in this one. 110 pound woman kills a trained soldier twice her size, lifting him off the ground. Solo hero walking straight down the hall runs into a group of soldiers who all forget they have guns and don't shoot, running away again. Then they fight her hand to hand, again forgetting they have guns, and attack one by one. But it was fun.

I didn’t really like the chemistry between peacemaker and bloodsport. Although I didn’t mind bloodsport being the main character, I think peacemaker should have been the main character. I give this film a 7. I mean, it's entertaining but then again..... comparisons are inevitable. Unlike most people, I loved Ayer's Suicide Squad ( I give it a solid 9 ), why ? because it is dark as hell an much more in line with Snyderverse's ethos ( in other words, it feels more like a Vertigo comic than a mainstream DC comic ). Gunn's The Suicide Squad feels too cheesy on its humor to my taste ( for example, Waller repeating the same description for Peacemaker and Bloodsport or scolding her team for not checking that Weasel couldn't swim ). It feels too meeehhh. The other problem is presenting Waller and most of her team as kind of incompetent, whereas in Ayer's film Waller is presented as a person with ruthless efficiency who would make sure none of her "team" will say a peep. Where is Gunn's film the Waller that would put a bullet through the head of one of her "team member" just because fucking it up ?. Why is the Waller in Gunn's film so incompetent he let herself down her guard an allow her "team members" to knock her down with a golf stick ?. It just feels like a complete waste to transform Waller into a clown in Gunn's film. The gore is a plus in this movie, it is used with the right dramatic effect, specially during Harley's breakout scene. Then again, I am not a fun of the "humor" of ridiculing the rest of the team, even if they were ignorant about the situation. To be honest, I prefered Ayer's take on the squad dynamics, making them feel the tension but without the slapstick nonsense. I'd say that those who liked Ayer's dark take on the suicide squad will say, "yeah, this film is OK but meh", whereas those who disliked it will be really hyped about Gunn's take on it.
@rafaelkresmar3998
@rafaelkresmar3998 3 жыл бұрын
Peoples taste are different and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, obviously but I'm honestly surprised by this comment. I didn't think Ayer's take was dark at all and honestly I very much prefer Waller being so overconfident that no one is going to do anything against her that she gets blindsided by her seemingly pussywhipped teammates rather than that disgusting depiction of the Joker. Jared Leto's Joker was only watchable under the assumption that it's actually Jason Todd who got tortured by the Joker into becoming the new Joker. Him joking about whoring out Harley Quinn to random nobodies really didn't seem dark but rather like an pathetic attempt at being edgy. Deadshot being just some "poor family man who just wants to provide for his Daughter" also wasn't dark but rather a very obvious attempt at manipulating the viewer into feeling bad for this guy. Or the scene where they suddenly decide to go against the Enchantress because "they want to prove themselves" or whatever it also didn't seem believeable. On the other hand there's the new Suicide Squad which is a black humor selfaware cheesy comedy movie, unlike the 2016 movie the 2021 one doesn't take itself seriously and openly admits and mocks all it's own flaws making it very clear that this movie is just for entertainment and not trying to do any moral lessons. HOWEVER I also thought Joss Whedons Justice League was terrible and that it was probably because Whedon had to somehow make the Snyder stuff work only for me to than see the Snyder Cut and think it's one of the best in recent history and sure it feels an hour too long but that movie is also 4 hours long. So who knows maybe there's actually an cut of that movie that would make that Joker acceptable but the original release version was terrible in my opinion

For real they created something original and dope af. Now the comic character looks just like him.

It was alright. It was entertaining. Bloodsport and Ratcatcher 2 were my favorite characters. Peacemaker was good, too. Also King Shark. I don't know if he's this dumb in the comics, but he's adorable. Nom nom.

I wouldn’t say it was a great movie or even on the same level as guardians of the galaxy, but it was ok.

I dunno... Three of the four ladies survived... Seems pretty frickin' woke to me... And the one that didn't make it wasn't a main character... Sooo...

the movie had 16 male characters in the squad and you think 4 women were woke in that ratio? sure....

@@yellowdevil8396 It was a joke. A joke on Gary and Co. who, if it wasn't a James Gunn movie, would point out, mock, and fixate on that kind of thing. /s I guess.

I wasn't looking forward to The Suicide Squad, and I went into it not expecting much. In that regard, my expectations were definitely "subverted." To my surprise, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

You have hated so much of the current movie and tv releases that it makes me happy just to see you happy about a movie that you clearly had fun making the review for. Lets hope we get some more good ones! 😊

Very entertaining movie. Definitely a 7.8 out of 10 movie. *Addition point: Without a doubt, definitely better than Black Widow.

I think this movie is in the top 2 for me, for DC films. The Harley scene is EPIC! Best Harley EVER was in this movie. I watched it twice in 2 days. God I want to see a sequel, and I so wish he had done the Harley movie.

@@pineapplepizza4016 I would have to disagree. I mean the Harley animated series is freaking awesome. I guess it would be too much with JUST Harley and no other characters to play off of. I would love to see him do a Harley movie with her and Poison Ivy.

Best comic book movie in quite a while and the most perfectly realized DC film. Absolutely loved this movie!

I didn't like this movie at all. The jokes were just painful and forced. Stuff like Sharkman wanting to go undercover by wearing a fake moustache, ug. I couldn't even get through the entire movie. I quit around the 50 minute mark, so unless it became a completely different movie afterwards, I'm not sure what you liked. I will give it credit for avoiding politics. However, I'm happy for everyone that did enjoy the movie, but the constant dumb jokes just spoiled it for me.

It did not have the woke nonsense thankfully but it was blatantly anti-American. There was no real villain in the movie, just the United States. Supposedly, the US started the whole evil starfish project. Amanda Waller was "defending her country" by being an out on control lunatic. And John Cena's character was supposed to be a caricature of an American patriot. Both characters turned into villains by the end of the movie. Did anyone else pick up on this?

I must be the only only person that thought the movie was just meh...it was just a typical DC movie, way to much music, forced jokes, and forgettable, I just remember leaving the theater thinking " why some much songs" 🤷

Hated the movie and cringe through most jokes, but for comic book fans I can understand you liking that movie, although I do find characters and "villains" shallow as hell. Only redeeming quality is action, the rest was shit

I saw the movie in a theater this afternoon, and it was worth seeing that way. I agree that it was great that the movie leaned in on the weirdness & sheer entertainment. But being released now during the panicdemic & other factors going against it, so it probably won’t make as much money 💰 as the 2016 suicide squad.
