You gotta understand when this movie came out, the shelves of gun stores weren’t lined with AR15’s and tactical stuff like they are today. You’d occasionally and I mean rarely find an AR in a gun shop, Mini 14’s were more common but it was unlikely to find a 30 let alone even a 20 rd mag for them at the time. Pistols and shotguns would have been the best choice for sheer firepower in 2004 in the absence of guns we see as common now.
