Hi Daria, I just want to thank you for everything you do to educate the people about fast fashion and making ethical choices in clothing. I am quite environmentally aware but as time goes on I realize just how much more I need to learn. One of these areas is in clothing. It was through you that I learned about how clothing contributes to environmental problems. Little by little I learn more and make positive changes. Thanks again.

Very informative video. I look forward to the next one. And I would love to hear about the environmental impact if Lyocell (from bamboo). Regarding rabbit wool I would add that angora rabbits suffer so much when they are shaved. Some even die due to the shock and pain of it. I saw a video of it and it broke my heart. I'm sad to hear that sheep don't fare too much better. In Romania we still farm sheep on a small scale and that ensures better quality of life I think.

+NotOfThisAge yes I've read about the angora rabbits too around 2 years ago. And now I am just trying to skip Angora wool in general. Animal abuse is a very sad and serious issue that need to be taken more seriously.

Thank you, Daria for this great and very useful video! In the last two years I started to be more conscious about the material and fibers the clothes I buy are made of. Now I look for and prefer to buy mainly garments that are made of natural fibers. I don't buy fast fashion for several years and of the reasons for this is because such brands use very poor and synthetic fibers and because of the low quality. I am from Bulgaria and we have a local brand ( Verychi) that produce clothes of very high quality from natural fibers. I find this video very helpful and it is very interesting ana useful to learn that clothes of blended fibers are not nature friendly and it's better to avoid them! Love your videos very much! ☺👍👍👍❤❤❤

This is such a good and informative video. In the south of Chile, sheep grow in more natural conditions, even though the Haciendas have thousands of sheep, the space for them to run, eat grass and grow is vast. Most of our wool is exported, so we are a source of natural and cruelty free wool... but I guess not everywhere has the same conditions. You have taught me several new concepts today, thank you very much ☺

I'm sewing my own capsule wardrobe from scratch. Fast fashion labels are unsustainable, and ethical brands are unaffordable. But buying material for sewing is surprisingly cheap. I just buy sewing magazines & patterns, and search youtube tutorials when I get stuck. Loved your video, Daria! Well explained. To the point. Easy to understand. Nice job ;-). I recently talked about organic cotton vs traditional cotton vs Tencel in one of my 'Sustainable Fashion Talks' and I concluded with the fact that organic cotton, and organic fibers in general, are the better option. @wonderwardrobe7 жыл бұрын
The peace silk production happens when the silk is extracted after the silkworm has completed metamorphosis and emerged from the cocoon as a moth. Basically, all the silkworms survive and become a moth. In traditional production the silkworms are killed before they even transformed into the moths.

I think, YES, it's totally possible. The capsules I show you and the ones I create for my clients include only sustainable materials. I always check what the items are made of first, and if it's something bad, I won't choose it, even if the item fits well or is crazy beautiful. Next time I want to show you a capsule example paying more attention on choosing sustainable fabrics. So stay tuned ;)

Thanks so much for your reply. I only very recently became aware of/interested in sustainable fashion. Right on time I would say, as I was really getting fed up with my polyester-filled wardrobe! Polyester is everywhere, even in the more expensive brands! I ended up buying all those items over the years, because I loved their design and couldn't find a better equivalent. I am now learning to say NO to polyester even it's coming from my favourite brand(s). Apart from it beeing bad for the environment it's also not pleasant to wear and it gets smelly very quickly so it needs to be washed more often!
