It was, but Nintendo only reluctantly dropped the trailer this early because of all the leaks. The real "reveal" will happen with the Nintendo Direct on April 2nd.

The problem is Nintendo do not have a first party that can carry a console anymore. All their prior consoles apart from the Gamecube did something new and exciting, but this is just more of the same and they've just been making the same games since the Wii U. I'm at the point now where I haven't turned my Switch on in years and I'll just wait until they port their games to PC. Like Microsoft and Sony, I haven't bought an Xbox since the 360 and the PS4 was my last console altogether..... None of them have the games to sell their own consoles now. Everyone has joined the PC bandwagon apart from Nintendo, however it is only a matter of time before they do as well.

I don't know what you are talking about. Mario Kart has 64+ million sales, Pokemon games combined over 50 million, Animal crossing almos there, and a truckload of games at around 30 million units, which is absurd for not multiplaform games... Nintendo exclusives are the reason nintendo consoles sell while many Xbox/PS5 owners only use it as a FIFA/MADDEN/CoD machine. Nintendo needs to have at least 2 Wii U (if not virtual boy) level failures in a row to even start thinking about bringing nintendo main games to non nintendo machines. And it doesn't seem that this one is going to be a failure. If you wait (which is completely ok if you feel like that) you are most likely not playing nintendo games on decades...

Nintendo did something new, it is called the switch, it sold almost 150 million units and pretty much created the "craze" for switch/steamdeck like hardware we have now. They finally found a concept that truly attracts "casuals" and "gamers" alike. It's alright if you don't like it, but if there was a time in which they really didn't need to do "something new", is now. Also, I doubt nintendo is not keeping some features and surprises for the Direct.

The best move would have been if Nintendo dropped this trailer before xmas, which was before the leaks started ramping up. You can't go into mass production and not say anything, an get mad about it when leaks happen. Some people would argue that a trailer before xmas would affect holiday sales, which is bs because a shadow drop trailer like this affects nothing and would fly under the radar of those xmas casual parent buyers. Not to mention its backwards compatiable. Nintendo played it badly with this reveal

To be honest it’s actually not way more detailed we gotta wait to see more footage because from that trailer it’s barely an improvement. What it’s actually doing is going with an art style over realism which I think is way better.

I thought it was disappointing too. It’s the same but bigger. So even less portable and it still has the silly dock design. Silly flap that hides the game silly little control sticks and still no back buttons ugh. I don’t know what to think. I just want a more powerful 3ds but I know that will never happen. I miss the dedicated portable games that used to be made it’s a huge loss for us gamers, when the switch was originally revealed people (KZbiners) were excited about just having one system to focus on but I seen it as a huge loss because we were no longer getting dedicated portable games from Nintendo. Everything feels the same now it’s so boring.

Have you not been paying attention to their behavior? They’ve been trying not to get people too excited, its main selling point is power with a little side gimmick. It’s the next console that will keep getting games as good as the switch had but they’ll look prettier with minor improvements. The reveal was just a reveal. They announced that presentation because THAT is what they’re hyping up. They really want people to get excited for the games they’re releasing. Not only is that the real substance of the console, but they’re also what make the most money. You’re looking in the wrong places for your satisfaction, it’s the same thing that plagues the Zelda community that can never be happy.

Genuine question but if you did the trailer, how would you have done it? I agree that its the switch 2 and it doesnt need a reintroduction since its well... a 2nd switch. Personally, i dont expect the reveal by itself to be super exciting for any console that moves into the next gen without changing the base formula

@OniiChanPls I would've started the trailer showing someone playing BOTW on the original switch, then it cuts to them playing it now on switch 2 (possibly 60 fps) The next scene showcasing someone playing Metroid Prime 4 with joycon mouse controls. Then wow the audience with red dead 2 gameplay. this would also hint at a possible gta 6 coming to switch 2. At the very end, I would show the Mario Kart title screen with no gameplay, just the number 9 dropping down.

My fiance has a switch i dont really play Nintendo products. I really dont even see a need to buy this console for her as for her usage it doesnt justify buying one as she maybe uses it once or twice a week. I see this console struggling to sell as many units unless people are just going to trade in there Switch for this as a minor upgrade, glad i never got myslef an OLED console now however.

I mean its basically Switch 1 with added buttons and magnetic lock in for the joy con and maybe a 4k screen with Mario Kart 9. Thats cool and all, but I'd like to see some specs. Is that screen oled 4k? maybe it brings back the lenticular 3d effect of the 3ds but in higher fidelity and better eye tracking tech? Will there be vr functionality with working Nintendo vr headset in the future? I highly doubt this thing will be anything but another disappointment specs wise. People would lose their shit if this cost 500+ like an Rog Ally or Steam Deck. This thing will be weaker than a PS4Pro and use some DLSS fuckery to pretend like its not. Worst part is that this just like the Series S will just hold back games. This entire generation is fucked because we just replaced PS4 jail with the Series S and Switch 2 which are just as weak. And there is a big chance next gen is gonna do the same thing and also be stuck on Switch 2 and Series S, which might be what finally kills off consoles

Its not just about realistic graphics, in fact i think realistic graphics at this point is also holding games back, because devs are so focused on the one thing that everything else suffer from that. Limitations used to breed creativity, but it is very obvious that thats no longer the case. There are just things that don't work on weaker hardware, when using a PC it is much more obvious how everything needs to be turned off because of it. Still we wasted more than half of the entire generation carrying along the last gen platforms, which lead to this gen not having a generational leap. The jump from 7th to 8 gen was still noticable, maybe not as massive as 5th to 6, but still noticable, but thanks to the Series S, PS4 and XBox one, there was no leap from 8 to 9. And now Nintendo is making another 8th gen level console. At this point i doubt theres gonna be a real 10th gen leap as well.

That's a mid-gen refresh called "next gen", that's what it is. This will sell, no doubt about it, there's nothing that has a "nintendo" logo printed on it that nintendo fans won't buy... That includes $70 for a few cardboard sheets... Oh you all thought I forgot seeing 40 years old men buying Nintendo Labo pretending that it was for their kid, huh? No, I clearly didn't. They should have made 2 things, a GOOD home console, and a GOOD handheld, that can interface with each other. Now they're in the same situation as they were with the Switch, it'll be neither a good handheld, nor a good home console. It's simple really, expectations for a home console game is to look good, when you make a hybrid, your handheld, which should prioritize speed (nintendo used to understand that, the GBC release 15 years after the NES and was slightly less powerful than a NES, still worked EXTREMELY well) that creates a situation were games aren't actually good looking in your big screen (see zelda, witcher 3, doom etc), and when in handheld, they look even worse and sometimes reach 23 fps... The only way I buy this thing is that it gives a performance boost to Switch 1 games. Else there is no way in hell I'm paying $40 for their 7 years old games that can't reach 30fps, I haven't do so until now, not going to start if they don't fix their sh!t first. Things might work out in the end, they might come up with a dock that significantly improves performance. Failing that, I won't buy it, no way I'm playing sub-30 fps games for $40 a pop. That being said, this thing will fly off of shelves regardless, bad drµg is still drµg for a Nintendo addict.

It's "mid" for 2 reasons. The leaks spoiled everything so the shock value is completely gone unlike Switch 1 reveal. Secondly, nintendo usually changes it up every new console, but seems like repeated mistake capitalizing on Wii hype to Wii U is happening yet again from Switch to Switch 2. Even more so with generic naming conventions, just visually (and specs wise) a superior Switch overall.
