The dialogue at the ending made me realise something huge. DIO really fits the definition of an antichrist. He presents himself as a great man, a savior of sorts, promising salvation to people and everything that they want as long as they devote themselves to him. He presents himself as a messiah, as God, but in reality he is evil incarnate, doing all of that to fulfill his own wicked objectives (killing the Joestars and attaining heaven in this case). I also think that the fact that his most loyal servant was a priest, a man of God, just makes this antichrist thing make a lot more sense to me, DIO truly is the Devil disguised as God

Regarding this, I love how that facade of greatness slowly falls apart during his battle against Jotaro. I think now that his infamous grotesque and maniacal look after sucking Joseph's blood might be Araki's intentional way of symbolizing the brutal and disturbing self he had been restraining until then with his charisma and confidence, which Jotaro shattered after he managed to nearly kill him with that punch to his head.

"Dio gives the people what they want." That line stuck with me. Maybe that could also be seen as a deal with the Devil. You sell the Devil your soul and the Devil gives you what you want but in the end, the consequence and the loss of your soul (the bad outcome) always outweighs the benefit and the gain. It was never worth following Dio just as it wouldn't be worth selling your soul.

Tbh, I can totally see DIO's way of making people follow him and devote themselves to him being similar to Giorno as the mafia boss. Giorno might not be as evil as DIO is and they're still different from one another, but well, he's not an hero either. And it was clear at the beginning that Gio has the same charisma and serenity like his father. The idea that he'd be able to make people trust and follow him just because of his image makes me kinda happy and I love that twisted connection to his father

From a more shonen aspect, I like that, in Part 1 at least, Hamon was something you worked for while vampirism was something that is given. That whole "it's just something that's given"-thing also kinda works for DIO's subordinates in Part 3, but I can't really think of how the protagonists work hard for something. Maybe in the way Star Platinum progresses in power?

That's partly why I like the first two parts more. Part 1 required a lot of hard work and frankly sacrifice to compete with the Vampires. Part 2 still had that as well. Joseph had to put in the work to develop his Hamon and he had to use his brain. He wasn't the most powerful guy even on the human side of things. But he was willing to work and think his way through problems. Past that...Stands just kind of appear and are what they are. Sure the Stand users can work to some degree to maximize the abilities of their respective stand. But that hard work overcoming gifted strength is lost.

There is no need for working for power since battles are won with your mind , and that keeps battles interesting. No need to see how a character growed to make a battle interesting, and main characteres change every part so they do not get repetitive.

There's a lot of really crazy other supernatural creatures in later Parts, and the novels. It makes me wonder if GOLDEN WIND SPOILERS Polpo and Risotto could be something "more" than just ordinary people. I don't think they are, but their eyes always threw me off. It's probably just a visual symbol of how morally bankrupt and horrible they are, or it could even be just a stylistic choice. But it could also be a signifier of something "else".

Cult leader describes him perfectly and like a cult leader he also preys on people who are weak or at their lowest and manipulates them to do his bidding. And it's those type of people that he controls the ones he never respects and discards like nothing. But there are also characters Dio is never able to tempt and that see him for what he is (Erina, Avdol, Speedwagon, etc...).

Honestly, I've always seen paralels between Stardust Crusaders and Heart of Darkness (or Apocalypse Now), with Dio being the Kurtz of the story. Booth the protagonist and antagonist sybolise their own kinds of strength, with Kurtz (Dio) being charisma and Marlow/Willard (Jotaro) being resilience.
