I liked the fact that they had the T-1000 make subtle but unmistakable indications that it possessed emotions -momentary surprise when it encountered the metal mannequin, anger when it figured out that the T-800 tricked it about Max the dog, sadism when he tortured Sarah and tried to get her to call to John (instead of just mimicking her voice)..... ......and displaying pure, undisguised terror when it realized that it was about to fall into the vat of molten metal.

I think that the T-1000 has the ability to mimic human emotion and expression so that it could blend in with humans and get around easier without arousing suspicion. But over time, it probably can develop genuine emotions of its own. I think it was the right choice to omit the glitch. Leaving it out keeps the feeling of hopelessness going longer for the audience. The glitch foreshadows the T-1000's downfall a little too much. Seeing the results, T-8xx series was clearly the most effective, more than every single other model. It defeated T-1000, T-X, and even the phase matter monstrosity. In T1 he even killed one of the main characters, an extremely dedicated, prepared and skilled soldier who destroyed dozens of various hunter-killer machines. It took almost dumb luck for Sarah to crush it with a press. There is a reason why T-X got endoskeleton back, after it was removed for T-1000. Endoskeletons rule.

You might be focusing on the whole picture more than the individual parts. So many good things about this film, but just watching this brings back so many of them. I loved the way the T1000 presses through the bars, and then gets the gun stuck as if he's forgotten he's holding it. It's a great touch. Also, the strange look he gives the silver manikin . But, there's one there too which is much more subtle. Robert Patrick put in his firearm's training and worked to eliminate the 'flinch' reaction most people have when firing a gun, because a Terminator wouldn't do that. You can see it there at 4:48 perfectly. It's nuances like this that show a care for the details. So many films lack this.

@whirl36903 жыл бұрын
The music is especially good in the first movie. In the background of the chase scenes, the music that played would be comprised of various metallic clanging noises and it made the scenes very intense.

The scary thing about T-1000 is that unlike all the other terminators (even that damn T-3000), is that it can perfectly blend in the environments, which makes it absolutely perfect for stealth operations. Hell if it wants it can just sneak into the human's resistence base and kill John Connor without anyone noticing.
@Elly3981 Жыл бұрын
That kinda makes you wonder why Skynet didn't order the T-1000 to do just that instead of going back into the past to kill John as a child.

@christopherjamesboudoir4 жыл бұрын
When the T-1000 starts to uncontrollably mimic it's surrounding in the foundry it is a defense mechanism. In the expanded canon it is stated the when the T-1000 is damaged so thoroughly that it needs an extended amount of time to recover it will camouflage. This is to go unnoticed while it's nano-particles fix itself. Because the main directive of the T-1000 is the termination of John Connor it ignores it's need to heal because it is so close to finishing its mission.
@christopherjamesboudoir3 жыл бұрын
@Meta Man In this situation yes. Because John Connor is so close it ignores it's directive to hide and repair itself. Say the T-1000 didn't know where Connor was it probably would've taken the time to heal and then proceeded with its mission.
@McobraR6 жыл бұрын
Just a correction, T1000 is actually heavier than the T800. Theres an interview with Robert Patrick where he states how James Cameron would describe the character whilst its fighting arnold. I think it was mentioned to be stronger also!

They did so many amazing things in this movie. From the gloomy lighting in the psych ward to the lighting in Johns foster parents home, reminded me of my old childhood home. The mall arcade scene and scenes outside totally remind me of the LA atmosphere (obviously it was filmed there so). But even the scenery that takes place in Mexico looks like somewhere you'd find near a small rancho in the country. I remember watching this at a drive-in theater, it was a double feature showing with Congo.
