My favourite tactic this year. Once you get the right players with aggression and technical stats it all clicks. Thanks for sharing.

Hi! good input video. do you use left footed full back on right side and right footed on left side?

Yes

How would you go about getting players to switch the ball out wide like van Dijk & Trent do irl? I’ve been trying to get this to happen in my save with players who have the trait at full back & centre back, but with no success.

Thanks for sharing. Great tactic. The tip about swapping wingers depending on opp FB is genius. Getting great results with my Blackburn team. Do you use any specific set piece routines?
@BusttheNet3 ай бұрын
A Short corner routine and a near post one. For short corners assign your best headers to attack far post. And for the Near post set your best headers to attack NP

Might be a stupid question but could you transfer this into a different starting formation? for example, 3-1-2-3-1..total football formation.
@BusttheNet13 күн бұрын
Hmm the idea behind this is to build out with one defender and then have 9 flooding the final third. The 3-1 config of a back 5 will keep too many back. Though I might try something close on my next twitch stream

Staff responsibilities. I know this has nothing to do with this excellent video. Can you help. I have set staff duties as I want, yet whenever an offer comes in for a player I want to get rid off, my wishes are ignored, and I end up with unwanted players just running down their contracts.
@BusttheNet13 күн бұрын
Staff responsibilities - if you have put the player up for sale and no one comes it could also be set down to low rep, have you tried loaning them? This also depends on how active your leagues are, whether you have a lot of playable leagues and what the detail levels are set to. I have a very active transfer and loan market because of my in game settings.

Great tactic. Really enjoyed myself. Question? Why does FM23 not allow a Libero?
@davidcaddle13073 ай бұрын
It does but only in a back 3. It changed for FM 24

Bush, apart from tactics, do you know how to improve the squad with super low wage budget (as well as transfer budget), I have lifted to Championship and only gets around 80k wage budget per week, I am now trying to sign some youngsters released by Premier league clubs and I don't know what should I do after that. I am now near the relegation zone.
@BusttheNet3 ай бұрын
When you have a super low budget you typically have end up signing players who are on expiring contracts or expired contracts. You’re also actively trying to manage your own squad by not having too many players on long term contracts. If you are in the championship, chances are you will be able to get some decent loan signings too. Clubs who have let some players be available for loans will have their wages covered by the parent club. And, you can bring in up to 5 which is the best way to handle that.

I think, at least in this FM, that the Libero is a meta or at least very strong. It becomes even stronger when combined with a Half Back. I also think that the Libero is the REAL version of what many people believe the 'Ball Playing Defender' to be.
@rockychieng883 ай бұрын
do you understand what is the libero and BPD? Libero and Halfback is very weak defensively.
@AllanFCL3 ай бұрын
@@rockychieng88 Half Back works really solid for me. I have nothing to complain about.

Sorry to say this but the libero and the halfback is perhaps a terrible combination
@AllanFCL3 ай бұрын
@@BusttheNet Well, I have a very strong tactic that combines 2 Liberos with 1 Half Back. Hahahaha I'm even surprised because for me it's extremely strong. I believe it must vary from squad to squad. I get my team (Torino) built only with Italians to reach 4th place in Serie A.
@rockychieng883 ай бұрын
@@AllanFCL libero and half back leaves your dm area empty, nobody will win the ball, i would easily smash your tactic if u dont have people winning the ball.

9:09 I think that's more like three CCC per game mate. This is the opposite of clickbait. Liked and subscribed 😡😂 I had a question about mentality if you don't mind enduring my rambling. I stumbled upon one of your FM23 videos ("What Does Mentality Do?") and thought it might be better to ask about it here on your most recent vid. I often hear on the SI forums that with higher team mentalities you should use more attacking duties, but I always thought more in line with your explanation that you should use more attacking duties on lower mentalities, in the same way you might want a higher mentality overall but use less "aggressive" instructions like less pressing or a lower tempo to offset the "negatives". If you're something of an underdog and want to use cautious to encourage counter attacks, is it sensible to use more attacking duties when you have a bottom heavy formation like a 532? Say both strikers on attack so they go at space, and maybe a fast RWB on attack too, or one of your strikers and a more attack-minded CM? I'm not sure how to do this in a balanced way that isn't overkill, letting me attack decently enough without compromising solidity. After promotion to L2 for the first time, my side is the "weakest squad in the league" and we are overperforming big time, and prevent far more goals than expected relative to pitch tilt, but our more defensive formations have a negative CCC+/- on average. My 442s are positive but I'm not convinced they're solid enough, ironically.
@BusttheNet13 күн бұрын
Hmm the moment I read higher mentality = more attacking duties I knew you were reading the wrong sources. That is not true. Higher mentalities = more risk, in fact having more attacking duties just means you have more players focused on attacking transitions than defensive ones. And that sounds too risky. While I have made tactics either more attacking duties, I sometimes use underlaps to make the widest players check their runs for inside runs of others to create a small delay in build outs. The game is ultimately about balance and control, if you want someone to focus on both attack and defending then play that position as support. Choosing duties has no formula it’s about how and where you want to control space. If you have a bottom heavy 532 you might want the wingbacks on attack duty because you have 3 defenders, this way they can push out early but then you would then need to consider the roles ahead of them, you might need roles that either move into channels or halfspaces to control the pitch better.
@RL-13 күн бұрын
@BusttheNet that's what I suspected. I always thought that if I was on a lower mentality, I could adjust one or two roles or duties to affect things without going over the top. I was never sure about using two wingbacks both on attack duty though. The hardcoded "get further forward" instruction for WBsu already seemed adequate. But maybe his personal mentality isn't high enough when I'm on cautious. I think it's the midfield I struggle with more. I have a top DM, a DLP signed while in Vanarama South (a real transfer actually) who has arguably Premier League level passing but who doesn't suit playing as an AP higher up, and then a few rotation players who can play a variety of supporting roles. I'm concerned I don't allow them to take enough risk when it comes to getting forward and supporting the strikers. A lot of the time, my deeper players don't enable attacking space after we've baited the opponent out because they'll either play it into space ahead of my slow 19 jumping reach target man, or directly above the smaller faster advanced forward type as if he should be challenging in the air instead of his partner. It's tough. I know how I want to play, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right according to how the devs coded the game 😅
@BusttheNet12 күн бұрын
Whenever you use wingbacks they tend to be more aggressive with ball movement, so unless they have plenty of support around them they could lose the ball. Personally I am not a fan of back three systems till SI change the way these wingbacks approach the attacking phase. Wingbacks in a back 5 dont press wingers enough unless your team is on a very high mentality and playing a high block which kind of defeats of using a defensive back 5
@RL-12 күн бұрын
@@BusttheNet ah so they're not just aggressive off the ball and trying to get into positions to stretch the play, but also with the ball? Do they try to carry it more too? I like forcing the opponent wide and encouraging them to cross as I'm confident in my backline's aerial prowess, but the wingback getting doubled up on can be an issue if someone's free to underlap and receive a through ball into the channel. Then they start fizzing those low crosses basically onto the goal line and anything can happen... 🫠 It's frustrating that the crazy looking 424 (most of my wide men can't play at LM/RM) seems to be better for CCC creation vs concession balance as I want to focus on defence first, and so does my board. The 523 has arguably been better for me, but I absolutely must have two strikers at all times 🤣
