If you're a double-digit handicapper, a weekend warrior, this guy has the best instructions and tips of any instructor on KZbin. He breaks down every aspect of every movement he wants you to do. He's not giving instruction to get your ready for the tour, like all the other instructors on KZbin. He's just trying to help you lower your score through clear, and easy to understand instructions. I wish he was in Las Vegas because I would definitely sign up. Thanks

Not even that but this is literally what tour players would appreciate, they love simplicity as long as it is effective and he is always spot on. If you can get the basics spot on then you can easily be single digits.

Thank you for the great detailed takeaway instructions and the way you explain HOW TO DO IT is HUGE. Been playing good to great golf for many years with a terrible takeaway, was scratch for a while even with, going around the body taking club inside really badly. The way you explain it was excellent! Took it to the course and it is working already......Have added 30 to 40 yards on my drives and just feel so much more confident standing over the ball, which is a MAJOR, MAJOR plus in golf, being confident over the ball. Thanks again for brilliant detailed instrusctions on the takeaway...!!

I had to come back and comment. I've been struggling to improve my game. just felt like something was off no matter what I did, tried so many tips from videos that helped a little but i continued to be inconsistent. Your tip about rotating your knuckles / keeping glove emblem facing floor in takeaway improved my swing so much. like I jumped ahead in progression so much more than I have in months. Worked extremely well with irons, cant wait to try my driver / hybrids next (struggling with those) THANK YOU!

Wanted to chime in and thank you for this tip. The part where you mention that feel of the right hand as you do the takeaway (I.e. feeling like it’s still facing towards the ball) really helped make my shots more consistent in my practice session today. Thank you!

I love how you talk in a lot of your videos about how things should "feel". If you want to change this, then you'll "feel" this. It's amazing, and I don't recall any other online instructors ever mentioning anything about how things feels. I'm one day in, and I think you're my new favorite online instructor. The information is so easy to understand and broken down into ways I've not seen many (or any) other instructors do.

Hey Jonathan- Great video! At setup, where should the left elbow be pointing? Normally, my elbow is pointing towards the target at setup; however, I see other instruction where it is advised to point your left elbow towards your left hip at setup and then on takeaway, keep it pointing down until left arm parallel (keeping the club on plane and preventing arm roll that results in bringing the club too far inside). What is your take on this approach?

I’m sure this is the root of my swing problems because I am sure i don’t really understand when I have done the correct takeaway ? So, if I miss a shot I almost always think its my takeaway so I go back and manipulate it when in fact it could have been something else. I must have 20 videos saved on KZbin related to takeaway . This is second time watching yours and will go try the drills again.

I just started watching a couple of videos and have enjoyed them. That being said, "no movement off the ball?!?. This is the exact tip that made my first year golf experience miserable. PGA tour average is 1-3 inches moved off the ball and for not so athletic amateurs like myself, that little bit of movement allows me to actually have a backswing. Just remember if you move off the ball you have to recenter before coming down for the downswing. For example Rory moves off the ball 3 inches with his driver then moves 5 inches forward! Just my 2 cents

Hi Jonathan, great video. Since takeaway is such a crucial part of the swing b/c it sets you up for proper downswing, what would you recommend on how to take the club away ( head out and butt end of club in) but how to properly take it to top. Meaning, while I achieve the first part I still see on my videos that I still take the club too far in and always have problems with over the top path coming down. I was in golftec for months. First teacher showed me my faults but provided no solutions. I changed my coach and was working on this issue but no luck. I’ve spent a lot of money but no real solutions. I do like your explanations and technical videos. I am open to any advice or suggestions....... Appreciate your time. Art
