I took a break from wow for about six or seven months to focus on studies (found that i was unable to balance wow and college efficiently) after maining a brewmastah for all of legion. I got back into it a couple weeks back and was bored to death of all my favorite characters and couldn't have fun. So i hopped on my dh, ilvl 792, that i hadn't touched since i leveled it to 110, just to mess around and absolutely fell in love with veng and now have a new main. I'm just praying it stays fun into bfa. He's ilvl 930 now and I'm working on getting into raiding so i can gear up further and get aotc. All this after mocking the "2edgy" class for most of legion. Now I'm 2edgy and loving it.

Just FYI: You can enable and disable as you wish, they simply took the system from Overwatch. In Alpha it's great, but I think I won't use it in pugs on live. In Alpha everyone is working towards a common goal and tries to learn...

I actually had this exact same view when they (very recently) introduced it into Heroes of the Storm. I am happy to admit I was wrong, and voice chat there has been a great experience. I'm only Silver 1 recently turned Gold 5 in ranks, so pretty down there, but people really haven't been flaming or trolling. The biggest issue is having 4/5 people in voice chat, as the 1 left out is missing all the communication.

People aren't nearly as toxic on comms than they are with text, and this is a proven fact - ironically, the most toxic of players won't even get on since most of them are generally quite insecure. I play a lot of Counter Strike and you can *always* tell who's going to be the one who starts complaining or flaming someone because they (almost) *never* do so on the voice chat, but in the text chat. Don't worry, man.

I had a really fun experience with Vengeance on the alpha today, made it this morning. First thing I did was to get a legion legendary, and go to do the Lordaeron scenario. I could tank half the goddamn alliance without a healer, no joke, Anduin, Graymane and a shitton of soldiers were all on me, I could just laugh them off. Absolute madness. Its also really fun, and has almost improved since legion. Havoc IS better than it is in legion, easily. DH is looking really good at the moment...

Fairly sure those whirlwinds you're complaining about are chasing one of the bosses and will be absorbed when they hit it (like the fire in coven Antorus). It looked like your mobility was actually prolonging them as when the boss stopped on the side of the room the wind made it to the boss and vanished.

My main raiding experience with WoW was during WotLK as a Prot War... Having played the Alpha it feels so slow and lethargic compared to what it used to be, with a LOT less utility. Gotta try out Vengeance DH!

My shortlist for what I want to sink my teeth into in BfA so far , with aim on tanking mostly : Brewmaster, Prot Paladin and Vengeance. Hearing the confirmation that the gameplay is FAST which is what I think is what's gonna sting after the squish, certainly props them up. I keep hearing BDK is ridic though. Hmmm.

So the interesting thought is this, once they add in the "Azerite" gear and the proper talents and abilities. These dungeons will become SO much easier. It looks good now, but it would have to be buffed when everything comes together in the end. When that happens, it would be sad if this is supposed to be "heroic."

Well if you DK's are going to get to keep that.... Warriors are going to not only be on the back burner, but damn near shelved completely if they don't do something. You can see the huge difference in Preach's feelings in this DH vs his warrior playthrough. He looks happy to be playing the role as opposed to hesitant.

+Nathaniel Hagan I can understand where both of you and Preacher is coming from but... here's the honest truth: Considering that Protection Warriors still hasn't recieved their new mitigation tool, it's safe to assume... they ain't done with it yet. If it was released as it is right now I'd agree with you but then again I don't think the "Early Access"-system from Steam works for World of Warcraft. Point is this: wait until they have their entire kit and THEN judge it to be good or not. In theory Warriors are going to be fine... in theory.

Viable means you "can". It doesn't mean you're preferable or desired to fill the slot. I've seen 950ilvl DH tanks have to go dps for vari, aggra, and argus because they get donked too hard by boss mechanics if RNGesus doesn't proc at the right times. Meanwhile a 930 warrior/druid/paladin can reliably mitigate those big hits and have more defensive cooldowns to help healers. I ended up retiring my DH because it was simply too unreliable for raid tanking. Even the DPS spec is rather one-sided towards AoE (read: dungeons). Meanwhile, Monks are able to put out the same numbers tanking/dpsing dungeons. While still being good for single target raid fights. AND they have the added bonus of being able to go heals if needed. In the end, any reason to bring a DH can be met by a Monk and then some.

Ye but remember everyone is new to the DH this xpac, it really depends how you gear and play. I dropped mine for antorus but tanked KJ HC last patch in 913lvl only taking 10k more dmg than a 935 prot war and he was the tank buster of this xpac. Alot of Veng are just Havoc in offspec not knowing stuff like extending your fiery brand etc. Im not the best player only played it for 1 patch in pugs but still managed on it well and felt safer sometimes than my much higher blood dk

Vengeance is more active than most other tanks, and it plays kinda like a dps would in terms of rotation. If you're used to playing dps it should be a pretty easy switch.

Hey Preach I main a Veng and the playstyle looks suuuper different (like actually using soul cleave lol), my question is I noticed spirit bomb was "grayed out" even while you were building souls, is there a condition to use it? or did you just leave it on your bars after swapping talents? Spirit Bomb got kinda nerfed, it only consumes up to 3 soul fragments now and Frailty only heals you for 10% of damage done. Another big thing is Fracture actually replaces Shear, kinda weird.

spb is much better than sc right now. Sc only does 2 souls. SC is critting for 1k and spb is critting close to 2.8k. Better build is fracture/spb atm on the alpha

The fact that they've added more skills to the GCD makes me feel as if they're ignoring the massive backlash to the new GCD changes and are you-think-you-do-but-you-don'ting this. Not gonna lie i'm really not liking where they're taking BFA in terms of gameplay, we're losing even more and we're not getting anything back.

IMO Blizzard should do massive pruning on tanks mobility. THEY ARE TANKS not agile, melee dps. Its kinda silly that Tanks are generaly the fastest specs in the game. While party of healers and dps try to catch up, tank is on his way half through the instance already. As healer I just hate DH and Monks, and trying to avoid those... mobile tanks are "not compatible" with WoW playstyle.

That makes no sense. They are named tanks for their role of taking damage, not the slow moving. Also, having mobile tanks is required cause they are supposed to be the first in battle. Imagine having to wait every time for your tank to catchup so you can pull.
