Funny, I got pretty much this guitar (except for the inlays) in 2019 when we were travelling through California and I wanted to get me a Taylor. Played this in the Guitar Center on Sunset Boulevard and throughout various store visits in L. A., Vegas, Emeryville and always came back to it over pricier alternatives, even though I had planned on the 324ce Blackwood model. Finally, in El Cajón, after the factory tour, I wanted to pull the trigger, but it turned out that Taylor had made this satin version exclusively for Guitar Center and didn't sell it themselves. Luckily, the store manager at the Taylor factory store had formerly worked at the local GC store (10 minutes away) and called them to reserve one for me. I never understood why Taylor didn't offer this version in their own line-up, since if there is one wood you really want to see, it's koa. Glad they changed their minds!

Wouldn't mind if other manufacturers made laminate back/sides American guitars too. Kinda cool to have a solid koa top in a stable guitar though the sound is a little brighter than i prefer.

I actually own this guitar, has its own sound. One of the better necks. I am not usually a big Taylor fan but this one works. I have owned a Martin D18, Guild D40 in the past. And played a lot of others. Grand auditorium is the style. They vary a bit- like most guitars-mine sounded way better than another example at Guitar Center. The included case is very well made.

Back in 2018 I had the Martin Custom Shop make me an all KOA guitar that is very close to this Taylor. GP18 body, all KOA, 1 & 11/16 nut, X braced scalloped forward shifted, long scale, LR Baggs Anthem. It takes a bit longer for KOA to build-up the bass tones, but when it does, great sound. Looks like Taylor made a nice one.

I think it's funny how we joke and say, "sounds like a Taylor". It's like the shape of the guitar or the materials don't matter with the brand. At least Taylor's consistent.

I bought a Deluxe version of this guitar last fall. They play nice, sound good. They have a very balanced sound to my ears. Having said that the bottom end is not as strong as the 314 my brother owns. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just depends on preference and situation. A little pricy in Canada for a guitar that has laminated back and sides, $2,699 plus tax at time of writing. It’s very beautiful to look at, almost afraid to take it anywhere out of fear of scratching it lol.

There were two occasions that I could have bought one of the smaller ones all solid but I tried the 300 series y was delighted y had me photoed lol.I almost got the ‘pacific’ model y tried y finally decided to buy it y only north of 3000 k but there was a big issue it’s untuneable…omg…someone that I thought was a ‘pimp’ for it talked to me but not a direct marketer,( just sensed it though)actually we jammed a bit y he was a pro. I was really frustrated over the QC of Taylor specifically on that pacifica model but I purchased the Martin om 28 y he was surprised 😂; I noticed that they aren’t marketing it…

200 series are still layered back and sides regardless of the last layer being koa. Sometime I think Taylor just creates more ways to sell their guitars regardless of their commitment to sound. Pretty wood veneer is still some other layered wood.

@@Sandra-Sarinya right??? Inflation is killing new guitar prices… but You can still get an all wood made in America 15 series Martin for about 1600… paying 2k for plywood makes no sense…even the koa Taylor gs minis are getting close to 1k usd.
