Are all those party attenders owners?

Owners (who may or may not be the pilots), spouses of owners, pilots for owners...a diverse group, but mostly owner-pilots and their spouses.

Is it open to the public at all, or exclusively owners, pilots and their spouses?

I did my ASEL (private) in a Socata TB-9 Tampico. Loved that aircraft so comfy on cross countries. It was not the fastest but it was the most comfortable and that's what mattered when flying it to build time for my instrument rating. TBM aircraft are the best.

$4 million fully equipped. You can buy a good condition twin engined JET for half the price. Or a quarter, if you look around. Absurd price for a private prop aeroplane.
@MyHalfprice7 жыл бұрын
Operating cost counts my friend.
@rainerzufall6895 жыл бұрын
Are you comparing new to used prices? If so: Why?
@chucklesx5 жыл бұрын
Yes you can buy twin engined jet but then you are buying an aircraft that is much closer to needing an overhaul and has no warranty (if it is enrolled on a parts/labour/airframe/avionics warranty program you will be paying for whatever balance is in the account). You will also be paying the fixed and vaiable running costs of two engines instead of one and you have to pay to be certified with a pilots type rating for the jet and do recurrency trianing each year to stay certified which all costs money. The jet pilot typically should also be RVSM certified as flying a jet only at or below 29,000 ft would be hugely inefficient as are short flights for the same reason, jets are designed to fly best at high altitudes so the tbm would be better suited if your mission profile is mainly shorter or lower altitude flights. Is a TBM expensive at 4 million $? Hell yeah but if you can afford it there is alot more that goes into the decision of which aircraft you would buy than just the purchase price. Not a absolute rule but you wil likely find that the majority of tbm's bought for private use will be flown by their owners as pic, jets on the other hand are more likely to be flown by professional pilots. Also no jet bigger/heavier (which make up a significant portion of the chaeper jets on the market) than a light jet are single pilot certified, so even if you can fly it yourself as PIC you would another type rated pilot in the right seat.
