Check out Team Fortress 2 Classic. They frickin' NAILED Pyro. They reworked the fire to be a narrow concentrated jet that has momentum and physics, instead of the base game's big cloud of orange hurt. Besides looking WAY nicer, this forces Pyros to actually aim and track their attacks. To compensate for this additional skill requirement and reduced width, the weapon's damage is now based on how many flame particles are hitting an enemy. Besides rewarding aim, this also makes Pyro DEVASTATING if they manage to stick their flamethrower right in an enemy's face. The end result is that Pyro feels like a diminutive ambush Heavy. Just like Heavy, this new Pyro has an absurd DPS if they can catch an opponent with the full point-blank output of their weapon. However unlike Heavy the fire has physics, meaning the end of the jet takes a second to catch up to where the Pyro aims, so a player that strafes at a distance can avoid most of the damage. While a skilled Pyro CAN minimize this by leading their aim when they pivot, it overall encourages you to find situations where enemies either can't backpedal or don't have the chance to strafe.
@PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworth Жыл бұрын
Oh, I forgot to mention this version of Pyro is way more fun to play AGAINST too, ESPECIALLY for Spy. First because the Pyro's fire is actually avoidable with good movement, and second because the reworked visuals ensure you can actually tell where the fire is, instead of it just being a vague orange cloud. Oh, also TF2C fixes a LOAD of the old client-side registration jank from base TF2, meaning airblast timing is WAY more reliable. (It also makes melee hit registration consistent, which makes melee combat consistently fun.)

Pf2 is a really important game in my history as a TF2 player. It's one of the first games that i actively modded by creating weapon reskins, which led me on a path into creating items for the TF2 workshop. One of my more recent mods even got officially added into PF2, that being the new Large Ammo Box texture that uses PF2 Heavy's bullets instead of TF2 Heavy's, I'm even listed in the credits. I really hope this sourcemod at least manages to live longer than other failed ones. Beta TF2 is something i really like. P.S: here's a fun tip: typing “r_rimlight 1” in the developer console enables rimlights on player models (like in TF2). It's not exactly beta accurate but looks nicer imo.

I'm still angry that no one has added the Catchers Mitt or Baseball Glove for scout. Long before air blast, scout was intended to have a baseball glove to catch and STORE soldier rockets and throw them back. It was scrapped and eventually the code got reused for the air blast we have today

the Catchers mitt as a equipment item that catches and throws projectiles would be interesting. since it is the scout, explosives do not minicrit, but projectiles minicrit on a throw. holding explosives too long makes them blow up. also, a equipment item slot for a single item to use when item slot is active, and the grenades, mines have gas passer mechanics, and you can also put in utility items on this slot(I would put the equipment items in slot 7) which I think would be intersting.

3:14 Different 'nades per character is bordering on Borderlands variety! So much potential for matching them to the characters too! Like thermite for Pyro, mines for Engineer, contact for Scout, MIRV for Demo, defensive HE-frag for Soldier (longer fuse, bigger blast radius), offensive HE-frag for Heavy (shorter fuse, smaller blast radius). Not sure what the others would have. Mines would work for Sniper (area denial) and Spy (sabotage). There could also be satchel charges. This is all speculation before watching the rest of the video a go go. 4:52 Napalm globs that travel at an arc like launcher 'nades would have made more sense. Maybe you could charge it. Then it could be like the napalm launcher from 'Blood' combined with the GES bio-rifle from Unreal Tournament '99. 5:00 Ackchyually, the expression is "buck naked," not "butt naked." 5:52 A "six-pack" grenade launcher that actually holds six launcher 'nades?! 5:55 Of course, they had to undo the previous good thing by having a single-shot M-79-style launcher somehow holds eight rounds. They could have had it feed from a detachable box mag and it would have made sense AND looked awesome. Mag-fed launchers exist, btw. 6:20 Just like Brick from Borderlands 1 (who's kinda like a cross between Heavy and Demo). 7:12 Looks like they based it on the MAT-49 (sans the folding magazine well that acts as a foregrip).
