The reason the were called the unit was called the immortals was because they seemed to of had an unlimited supply of people to fill in for the ones who died

@@LionKing-ew9rm it was always then thousand, but what happens if one of them dies? This: if anyone gets wounded, sick, die, weaker than before, or even retired, they would replace them. With the one of their strongest fighters (and the would be recommended by their commander) after testing their courage, abilities, and skills the would go onto the reserves, and wait till one of them dies or somthing to be able to replace him.

Request- Massillia VS Baktria!👍 I believe this would be a interesting matchup do to the fact that while both factions have hellenic units they also have diversity. Massillia has Celtic units while Baktria has Eastern units. Just think it'd be cool to see that aspect play out on the battlefield😁✌

@@CelahiR88 It's sad that they used a comics book to made the movie. The Spartans did have 300 there but as some of us know, they weren't the only ones that fought there and that made the choice to stand and fight to the bitter end while the rest of the Greeks were retreating. Could, let's say, a Roman legion hold their ground? Give another example if you can.

@@jasonlam8823 That's a shout but can the phalanx deal with the archers in such a way that they will not sustain too many losses before engaging the Immortals? I said "archers" because, from what I've heard, they learned to use the bow alongside using the sword or the spear. Maybe not all of them but some of them must have learned that.

The mind boggles. There were 7000-12000 Greek troops at Thermopylae of which 300 Spartans were present. The Greek barricade at Thermopylae held for a couple of days at the narrow pass. On the third day the Immortals flanked and killed the remaining Greeks and Spartans. The majority of the surviving Greek troops retreated. The 300 Spartans are remembered simply because they stayed behind (though 1100 other Greeks did as well) to hold the fort as long as possible to allow the Greeks to retreat. As it turns out, they couldn't hold the pass long by themselves. Nevertheless, they are romanticized in Greek history as an ideal for the generations. But the Greeks lost at Thermopylae and Xerxes took and sacked Athens. The Persian invasion however would be repulsed a year later.
