Episode suggestion : it would be interesting to see Vishal's own house and what influenced his living decision. Given the fact he has see so many perspectives of different tenants, i am intrigued to see Vishal's home. Will make for a really good episode. Welcome in advance 😃

I am a Muslim and grew up in ever shine nagar malad … close to where infinity mall is located … we had 10 Muslim families … around 20 or so catholic and about 40 were Hindu families from all over India … I was 10 years old when 1992 riots happened… slowly all Muslim families moved out …. It was a simple question of safety in numbers … though the people in the society were very helpful during riot time , but if someone ever came with a bad intention they could only help us so much … we were the last Muslim family left .. we couldn’t move as we didn’t have the money to move …. Then I left for America and started earning in dollars … first thing we did once we had some money is to move out …. Trust me we had no problems there .. In fact we loved the area , but the fear of the riots remained even after 15 years and 2002 in Gujrat was a good reminder that it was only a matter of time … sometime in 2014 the buildings got redeveloped into 22 storey towers … we are In Touch with some old neighbors… there is not a single Muslim family there … when I came to America almost all my room mates were Hindus … the way I grew up in a multicultural place is something I cherish … children these days will not be able to experience that … it’s funny that my neighbors in America are Hindus , but I wont be sold an apartment now in the same place that I grew up in ….. we all need to reflect as to why is happening to our country with so much hatred ….. hopefully future generations will improve things

@@31shetshar nope … Malvani has Muslims , some areas in the east … but in evershine nagar it is very cosmopolitan… during 1992 riots , groups of men used to roam the streets shouting jay shree Ram and praising shivaji… I have seen them myself …. There were some Muslim owned cloth shops and furniture shops that were burnt down … no one got killed in the area but there was a lot of arson… these were all people from outside that had come and done these things as evershine nagar was a very cosmopolitan and middle class area … in one area near station some of our relatives used to live in a chawl like setup …. Their friends were shiv Sainiks who they grew up with … these friends came and told them that they have been given orders to cause arson and loot in their home … these guys got a shiv sena owned ambulance and got them out safely … then Just to show their seniors they broke some windows and doors .. they didn’t allow outsiders to put fire …. Once the riots were over they helped my relatives by fixing what they had broken … such were the times .. obviously my relatives moved out later.. Infact these shiv Sainik friends told them that for their own safety they should move out cause they will not always be there to protect them… there was a Hindu carpenter who was making some furniture for us …. He didn’t reach home as he got caught up in riot area near andheri.. he told us that he saw a Muslim man’s head being chopped off … as he didn’t reach home , his brother complained about us and we started getting threatening calls …. No one could trust anyone … obviously he reached home safely the next day and apologized on behalf of his brother , but we all understood that we were very vulnerable in that area …. These were times when there was no cell phone or internet .. also not everyone had land lines … places like andheri felt like a different city altogether

I went to iran, turkey, syria, there also u guys built ur mosques on ur churches and zorastrian places of worships like fire temples. u just completely ignored when i countered u factually, with refrences of your own holy book, basic tenet of islam is to believe in each word of quran and if u dont believe in it, then u r a kafir. tell me one thing, do u believe whats written in your or do u disregard it.

@@theybecameus Lol you ignorant bigot, you'll find similar references in every "Holy Book" Taken out of context and with malice, any religion, prophet, priest or saint can be used to spread hate, evil and violence. Religious texts and books aren't scripts for your lives but reference books for you refer to , to find answers to what you are looking for. To pick out these verses, without context and ignore the ten thousands of others that speak what every other religion speaks, shows how little you will ever know. Educate yourself.

@@theybecameus it takes effort to understand context. There are 6k odd verses in the Qur'an. They all mean things based on the time , place and politics of the time it is written in. I'm a Christian and the same is visible across many verses in the Bible. From wars , to considering non believers as condemned people and verses of violence. Apart from these verses the thousands of others talk about peace, brotherhood, community, service and sacrifice. Even in Hindu texts, there are many references to violence, wars, politics , trickery and destruction. Similar to the Qur'an these verses are a small portion of the whole book as message. It's you that should be taking the time to read the whole book instead of the verses you get from WhatsApp before you spread your ignorance.

Mumbra has a lot of good things to offer apart from this too. To change the perception, just visit Mumbra and you will understand. And this is coming from a person who has lived her entire life in different parts of the country. It's not as bad as people have taught so. Thank you Money Control for this episode and for openly discussing the problems we Muslims face in day-to-day life while buying/renting a flat in a good society. My family lived in Kausa, Mumbra from 1977 to 2005 and then we shifted to Andheri. The best thing and probably the only best thing about Mumbra is that it gives you a roof over head at a very affordable rates. Yes, there are illegal buildings, petty crimes, lack of open spaces , no good schools and colleges but who to blame??? We don't vote and elect our leaders wisely. Post 92 riots, the town has changed completely. Initially it was all familiar faces around. Remember going to Khadi-machine during the monsoons or otherwise, the khandaks at Darul-falah maidan, the Saifee building and the Suhana, the National restaurant at Kausa. All gone..... Now, I don't feel that kind of vibes of 80s....

All the subcontinent Indians need to talk and converse and learn. This would make things easy for the minorities, if they exist, in Pakistan and Bangladesh and, also, for the sizeable minorities in India. It will, also, make the majorities, including in Pakistan and Bangladesh, better humans (I come from a Hindu-Muslim family). People all over the world are united by races and we have been divided by religions. I like the Indian foliage and trees better than California, the only consolation for me to return. Also, Kashmir is awesome but, almost, inaccessible. Thank you, God for the good parts of Hyderabad as a consolation!

That's your lived experience and you are an exception. It's not Mumbai that has the issue, almost entire india or even the world has the issue. Have lived in Manchester long enough to understand that the 'perception' does have some merit.
