It's the family coat of arms, the sword and 3 padlocks = Dunn. The knights head on top is leaving me to believe that he was a Knights Templar . Excellent video, thank you for sharing!

I mean no offence when I say the helmet is not related to the Templars. It goes back to the days when knights/warriors wore helmets of some sort in battles, this allowed anyone to add a helmet on their grant of arms. Magnificent find GV. Thank you. Deb of Oz. XXX

OK, you have William Dun, on the floor you have a crypt marked MOTHER, which is to the left of the memorial as you enter. Then on the right side, again on the floor, is another small crypt with writing along the bottom edge. You kept stepping over it to look at the elaborate crypt of Dun. I believe all of Dun's immediate family is buried in the tomb under the floor.

Wow! Great find! Thanks GV! I find it strange they had poultry netting in the yard, I understand putting it in the windows to keep birds out and keeping the inside clean, but the added netting to fence off the animals? I think someone is doing a great job keeping the place in good repair! The vents in the covers, they could be drains, in case water starts leaking through the roof, as it falls into empty spaces, and the used spaces have solid covers with no vents. I suspect each space has a dirt floor, rather than a stone floor, as that is how the open space looked.

He may have been, "Well to do", as they used to say, but the construction of the Mausoleum and the monument were common in the age he was living in, so it would not be as expensive to do then as it would today, as we don't do such construction today.

Here is what Chat GPT had to say about padlocks in an ancient Scottish family crest: In heraldry, symbols like padlocks in a family crest or coat of arms can carry various meanings depending on the context and history of the family. Here are some possible interpretations: 1. Security and Protection: Symbol of Protection: Padlocks in a family crest might symbolize security, protection, and the safeguarding of family wealth or secrets. The padlock could represent the family's role as guardians or defenders of something valuable. Custodianship: It could also suggest that the family had a historical role in guarding something important, such as a castle, treasure, or even legal responsibilities. 2. Secrecy and Loyalty: Symbol of Secrecy: The padlock could represent secrecy, indicating that the family valued discretion or held positions that required confidentiality. Loyalty: It might also symbolize loyalty and trustworthiness, suggesting that the family could be relied upon to keep confidences. 3. Authority and Control: Symbol of Authority: A padlock might signify control and authority, representing the family's power to control access or maintain order. This could be linked to a position of legal or military
