Unfortunately, there are people who a drug mules. Some make frequent crossings. The sudden high frequency would have raised eyebrows no matter who you were. I'm not discounting that the border agent had personal issues, but often it is just the banality of bureaucracy. Scanning your passports would have triggered warnings.

From a european perspective, having grown up in the border region of the Netherlands and Germany this is just completely crazy to listen to. I can cross the border ten times a day and nobody would stop me and I dont see why Canada and the US didn‘t make such an agreement. It‘s not like their total enemys? @@BlueGlow26 Well my case was 20 years ago. And while it seems probable it is a new law, relationships between people living in the cities of Vancouver and Seattle are pretty common. I couldn't count the number of friends i have who at one time or another dated someone across the border. we're a border town, it happens a lot. So i still find this mind-boggling. I was a good friend with an American border agent and he never once ever said anything to this effect, and he himself was dating someone up here at the time. And what about truck drivers? MANY people cross the border every day. What about school kids living in Point Roberts who cross the border 2 to 4 times a day every week day. This doesn't make any sense. My hunch is that they were centered out, and they should of or could of fought it, but i'm sure they are both glad they didn't and that it all worked out.

​@@FablestoneSeries, I expect there are carve-outs for people who have a job in one area and live in the other because they would that work visas. One of my co-workers had his wife get a job in Vancouver so they moved up there while he was still working here in Seattle and he commuted down a couple times a week. That was definitely no issue. It looks like the law says 180 days for normal Canadian citizens, which feels very generous, so not sure how they managed it if they'd only been taking three months unless Paul had spent extended time in the US previously in the same year. That said, if they suspect you of drug trafficking or working illegally in the United States, they can cause quite a stink and then you do have to jump through extra hoops to prove you are actually there legally.

One of my best friends had a similar experience too. She was dating a guy in the US and was spending a couple months there at a time. They drove back to Canada for Canada day long weekend and then went to go back to the US After the 4th. They got blocked at the border for crossing too many times. So, they spoke to a lawyer who told them to get married. They did a quickie wedding in Ontario. Tried to cross again as a married couple and were blocked again. So they spent the first 2 years of their marriage apart while immigration dug into their entire relationship. She had to stay in Canada until the immigration process was completed. They've been married almost 20 years now.

One of the happiest days was when he became a UK citizen and indeed he wanted so much to be British that when he died, I put a copy of his British passport in his pocket for his final journey.

I was so depressed, I didn't feel as though I could go on and then the pandemic started and I was isolated for 18 months as I'm immunocompromised and almost lost my mind. I hope you are okay and moving on with your life. Glad you got to experience love and make wonderful memories. That is what I focus on now after getting grieve counseling.

Wow, that's a doozy to have to decide to commit to a relationship after 3 months. I am glad you two have found a way to make it work and got past the various hurdles in your relationship. As I said previously, even when you're just talking about ordinary, everyday things with each other, it seems as if you're constantly saying I love you. Truly, you both seem incredibly happy and suited to each other even if you have your differences. And hearing that you fought is actually kind or reassuring to me that you're solid now. Because a solid relationship does take work, and to have fought and gotten over it means that you've figured out how to put in the emotional work you both needed. The fact that it all looks easy and unshakeable right now means you've built a solid foundation by finding and facing your differences, and that should make going forward easier. Hi Paul. I’ve just came across your channel. I think you two are the most adorable people ever!❤ My mother is “legally blind” but from what I gather from watching your videos, your vision and my mom’s vision is about the same. She was born with vision but lost it when she was almost two years old due to being dropped. The accident completely blinded her for a couple of years but light perception came back to her. Multiple surgeries were performed, but with so much scarring from the surgeries, nothing can be done. My mom is so much like you, she has the best attitude and never complains. She did go to the blind school growing up, and I do not want this coming across as mean because I’m not, but my mom said so many of the kids she grew up with have so much anger on the daily about their vision. Paul, you and my mom are doing it right. Picking up and moving on instead of self pity. I’m going to share your channel this weekend with my mom. She will love y’all!❤❤ Ps, coincidentally, my stepfather has RP as well. All peripheral vision is gone, but center vision is still enough to get around with ease. ❤

Guys, Everything happens for a reason. You should thank the border officer for forcing you two to make the decision and commitment. Federico and I went through the same situation 29 years ago. He was an attorney in Costa Rica and a diplomat who was working at the United Nations. I hired a local immigration attorney and it was several years of work and lots of money. Of course, we could not get married back then. That wasn't an option. But we made the commitment and worked toward Federico becoming a permanent resident. He still is not an American Citizen...but that will come. We got married about 7 years ago. My wish for you two is that you have as happy of a marriage as Federico and I have.

My partner and me have a similar story ! We met in Sweden during our studies and I had to come back to France to do my masters there, but he is Turkish so there was NO WAY he could enter the country more or less permanently without us getting married, which seemed like a pretty big commitment at the time (we didn't plan on getting married ever tbh haha). We spent 6 month going back and forth between Sweden and France, and then we got married and moved in together right away !! It was a pretty big commitment and we had our ups and down for sure, but as you said in your video about knowing he was "the one", we established great communication tools from the get go and we are living so happily now ! Every time he goes on a trip for more than one week, he is counting the days until coming home to me 🥲Anyways, so happy it worked out for you in the end, sending much love from France 😘

Never use after this story almost broke up because you guys are such a great great example of being a married gay couple. What I like about you guys is you break the stereotype of gay couples, or married couples that hit straight people? terrible examples of gay relationships. You guys break down the stereotyping, the assumptions, and even though the non-blind person plays jokes on the blind person, you can really and truly see. How much they truly love each other and that’s really and truly great. I just want to thank you guys for that.
