I’m autistic and only met my wife when I was in my mid 40’s. I never expected a serious relationship, never imagined she would take on me and my 2 autistic boys, but we also moved in after 3 months, we just knew we wanted to be together. It took us a while to learn how to live together but I’m happy to say that 7 years later we can’t imagine it any other way.

We moved in together after 3 months as well. I am physically disabled with several severe health conditions, I told him I was on our first date! Thought better be upfront and honest and we have now been together for 22 years! We are best friends and soul mates. We laugh everyday, we play pranks too and have the most amazing relationship. He has to look after me more now, and I never take him for granted. We tell each other we love each other every day and and very rarely argue! Sounds too good to be true huh, believe me I still have to pinch myself! We wish you both the love and joy that we have forever. Never change the way you are! I suggest you please consider getting married. Even if you aren't religious, it gives you a lot of protection. Even just a meetup at the courthouse, just the two of you. With a legal marriage, you can legally make medical decisions up to and especially decisions about life support, pay lower taxes, and inherit if the worst happens. Even the ability to share family health insurance through one employer. (Yes, some places allow life partners, but this isn't universal.)

I love that I'm new to your channel, but I feel some many similiarities to you both. I met my husband ironically 2016, really living with him like 2-3 months in (we thankfully live in the same city but he did travel alot for the job he had then) but didn't offically move in until 5-6 months in. We all defianty have to learn to adapt to one another plus I came in with 2 cats so my hubby had to learn to live with my cats but I think we all live together in harmony, like you we rarely argue and if we have something we speak about it, thats life I guess.

Sometimes you know when you know. My late parents met in 1943 at the University of North Dakota (she was there learning to become a machinist, he was there with his unit for training). Her class was on a break and my Dad and other guys from his unit came in...and then my parents married after only knowing each other three months. My Dad died of cancer in 1990, had he lived three more years, they would have been married fifty years

At 15, I was diagnosed with Crohns disease, and since I was 28, I have had 5 surgeries for my disease that have left me with an ostomy bag. I never thought I would find love, and I pretty much have up on having children. I thought, how could anyone love someone with this thing. I found a man who didn't care, and almost 7 years ago, I had a little girl. While we aren't together anymore and honestly I haven't seen him in almost 6 years, I now know that there are people out there that don't give 2 s*^ts about disabilities. I know there is someone out there for me and I look forward to spending my life with them. Please don't let your disabilities get you down. I've learned it's what is on the inside that counts. I love you guys and your love for each other. It is beautiful.

We're similar Paul. My older brother always like basketball games to be the channel every day and night which I hate. So I told myself when I get to have a job, the 1st thing I'd buy was a TV so I could watch my favorites programs from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. And I'm also a keeper of personal things much more those with sentimental values. Though now I'm senior, and having transferred houses, I learned not to be so much anymore. I changed because there are far important things to attend to.

While their is some ableism in the queer community, it's not nearly as bad as it is with cishets. I am visually impaired, adhd, limited mobility and auto immune disease. When there is ableism within the queer community, it tends to be more out of ignorance. A lot more of the queer community is ND as well (almost 50% of adhd/autistic people are lgbtq) so this might have an impact on how the queer community views disability. I have also experienced racism and antisemitism within the lgbtq community, but no where near what I experience with cishets. (I'm a biracial Indigenous Australian Jew, the technical correct term for this is Didgerijew)
