Regarding Bloodbath, there was the One Horned Demon King in Freedom Unite, which was a one horned Diablos with higher stats. Some think that was Bloodbath before becoming deviant.

I mean, Wyveryans are can be described as elves as they have long ears, live greatly longer than humans and often represented as beings wiser than humans. My theory is, the people are actually very small that’s why they can lift things that are as big as they are even though they weigh more than they do. And being able to fall from great heights without taking damage. And having massive insects the size of a bus be extremely mobile. The best fan theory in my opinion as to the origin of the hunters is that Monster Hunter is in the far future with Wyverians being how humans are in the future, long lived and super wise. They were exploring the stars when they found a really harsh and inhospitable planet and the hunters were created as genetically engineered super soldiers who could wield crazy weapons and tank humongous hits then suddenly contact with the rest of civilization was lost and technology devolved and reformed into what it is now

Monster Hunter Dos’ flagship was Kushala, the game Tigrex debuted in (I forget which one) he was flagship and freedom units was Nargacuga If you have a closer look, Akantor and Ukanlos do have those wing blades like Tigrex on the forelimbs. They’re just really tiny

The background of deviant monsters is that they have survived being hunted, they are ones that have adapted to hunter tactics and won, sort of like ones who survived their trial by fire and what doesnt kill you makes you stronger

I thought that was a generic explanation for them but not a definitive one. I always just assumed deviants where all unique for one reason or another. Some of the abilities some of the deviants have don't make sense when you think about how they earned them just by surviving a hunt.

Maybe brave Yian Kut-Kus got together with those rejected Rathians to make Yian Garugas? ; ) That idea for a funny Chameleos animation sounds like just the sort of thing NCH Productions would make. Them eating your Wirebugs would probably be easier to deal with than stealing your items, for me! I'd really like to know more about the ancient civilisation that lived on the Moga Island, especially the sunken city in the Underwater Ruin area. If I ever play MHWorld I'm sure I'll come back and listen to your thoughts on the lore of that game again.

So 4u weapon names in german, basically all names got translated into german from the english release and they just kept the gore magala weapon names as they where then but they also translated the french names of the shagaru equipment into german and they besically where all named after apocalipses or greater meanings. For example some of the gore magala hammers where "wutblick" = enraged stare probably meant to be a joke with the whole "seeing red" thing , "wuchtblick" = forcefull stare, though it is meant to allude to the momentum of the hammer... And for the shagaru hammer it had names like "Ragnarök" wich is the apocalypse in north myth, i think the final upgrade was named was "Erde" wich just means earth. I dont remember any of the particular names of the chaotic gore equipment but they kept that odd naming convention gaijin mentioned allthough it dosnt sound as odd in german.

The Kulve Taroth original assignment DOES actually make sense, in congruency with the Guilds reputation. We do go there to study her horns but dont forget we are not able, or allowed to, kill her in the Seige. We break off her horns and she escapes and grows new ones, eventually. Its only the master rank EVENT quest that we get to actually kill her, which event quests never usually follow standard story or lore.

Just out of curiosity, do you mind sharing a personal story? I noticed both Rurikhan and Gaijin both have american accents but neither of you live in the states. I thought you might have been ex pats, but hearing how Gaijin mentioned Ruri wouldn't know anything about the benjamin restaurant implies that Ruri has been in Portugal or at least out of the states for his entire life. (tbh i don't even know the restaurant and i've lived here 31 years lol). Likewise, Gaijin talks about being in Japan and it seems like he's been there his whole life, but he knew the difference between 7/11 in USA vs 7/11 in Japan. How did y'all get american accents?

I think Gaijin is actually on point with each flagship representing a different style, he just has the monsters mixed Gammoth is definitely Guild style Astalos is aerial... cuz he flies (guys cmon) Glavenus the offensive powerhouse so striker only seems fitting And Mizutsune is adept style because of how it slips and slides around the battlefield The armor sets actually all fit the styles too

20 minutes into the podcast, and I'm like "the guild ladies have NAMES?!" You bet I immediately went to the wiki and looked up the Moga Sweetheart's name, because she was my first receptionist and is still my favorite. Gotta eat those shrooms, she said. So they won't hunt her down. Also, I kinda am interested in wether or not Rise will have some lore on the rule of four. Because my first thought when I did a four player hunt was, "wait a minute, that's more than four!" Palicoes always factored into the rule, so that was kinda weird in the demo.

I like how there are legends and things of black dragons in the games that the game has you fight, but speculation and legends of the ancient civilizations/EDW transcend the game's world into real life and having nothing to go on aside from attempting to pick the devs brains or headcannoning makes it even more mysterious.

The name "Scarlet Road Man" makes it sound like the Scarlet Mystery Man is about to show up to Schrade in a puffer jacket and smack Fatalis' bunda.
