First half of Cates run on this is pretty damn good. Halfway through it starts to drop off because Cates got into an accident and wasn't able to finish his run. They brought in other writers to finish up but it wasn't Cates vision. Same for The Hulk as he was writing that book at the same time as Thor.

NIce personal history, Gem! 💎🔨🌩📚Three great ways to start! My first realization that Donald Blake was a thing (who fights Hulk, who fights Thor in MCU, I digress) was from JMS's run! So I finally understood that reference when time came in MCU Thor! And introduced to Donny Cates via his Venom run, and now THIS! Anything related to post- War of the Realms we need to know about? Yeah, his arc burgeons over time! That group shot, I want a poster! Dude, I'm excited for this Omnibus, man! LIke one story! The blurb and art in the back makes me want to dive in right away! Somehow it's like they "remembered" how to sell Omnis! Because it feels like you can dive in headlong, no prior exact knowledge* needed! Just from the look alone! *insert MCU Ragnarok GIF of MCU Thor going, (does) it though?? (At least I'm hoping that's the case!)

Waiting for Cates to return , hopefully he bounces back. I don’t care for what Al Ewing has done with Venom, and I feel only Cates should be the one to add more substance to Knull. I loved this Thor run up until other writers took over and the new Venom stuff is like a repeat of what happened with Thor and Hulk and we’re supposed to just accept it as “what’s next” for these characters. Just my opinion, but things have gotten a little lame now and I feel we NEED Cates. Wishing him well and hope he returns with a bang.

If I didn't like Cates' Venom, Doctor Strange or Thanos (too fan fic for my taste, too many weird retcons and corny humor) - is there any chance I will like this? 😂 the art looks great and I like most Thor Ive read (even the older stuff, John Buscema's art on the Bronze Age stuff is incredible and there's some of my favorite Kirby art before that) Thanks for the overview, Gem

Cates was at a peak here and then started falling off….this was a great pick up after Jason Aaron but Aaron’s run was and is the best Thor run….
