There may not be any cutscene skips in this game, but you ARE allowed to skip Zess T.'s cooking animation. You don't have to sit through that whole repeatable pseudo cutscene any time you want some cooking done

It's good to hear that the overall game speed feeling slower isn't just in my head. Not only the text boxes, but even that battles and navigating menus feels ever slightly slower, just little things here and there that tack on seconds. Still LOVE the og game AND this remake to pieces, but yeesh, it's EXTREMELY noticeable.

Oh No, Pre-Hooktail Pit is immensely harder now in remastered. I was playing through the Pit for Pre-Hooktail, with Koops in Peril. I got 99 Star Points, made sure Goombella was out for the next fight, and After the level up, Koops was fully healed too.

Yeah I tested that in boggly woods when I got Goombella into peril and leveled up with Koops out. My mind immediately went to how much harder managing your partners would be in the pit.

On the Flipside, it’s now easier to get partners into peril. You can let one die and they will recover up to 1 health at the end of battle, as long as Mario survives of course.

The only major gripe I have with the remake right now is that you can't speed up dialogue (unless you've seen it already), and while that's fine for my first playthrough, I loved replaying this and that makes it go much needlessly slower. It only really bugs me because I like fast, and there's a bunch of other fast improvements, like Mailbox not stopping you all the time. If this game gets a patch for any reason, I hope fast dialogue is one of the things.

They made it so when you level up, everyone gets their hp back, not just the front partner. I was trying to do pre hook tail pit, and leveled up with koops in front. I went to attack the next enemy with goombella, and realized her ho was at 20, not 1. This sucks for anyone trying to do pre hooktail pit.

I just started Paper Mario ttyd remake. I am also a huge fan of the original. Graphics are great. But I have a few problems so far... We can only see the storybook opening when we start a new game, we can not name save files which we need for many reasons, wanting our own name, multiple people in a family wanting a file and easier to pick them out, putting the date adventure is started, saying what kind of challenge run we are playing so yeah not naming save files is not ok, and not being able to skip or quick get to the bottom of diologue will be painful at times, sure I like to read the full text most of the time but not always... I really like the star pieces and shine sprite percentage meter on map though so there are some good and bad things I will save final judgement until I finish... Oh and getting a coin from cockroaches was funny!

I’m not sure I exactly feel good about the premise that the Paper Mario series had been so shockingly and stubbornly mismanaged that this remaster was necessary. And that if we want to “save” the series, we have to buy it. I don’t really think so to be perfectly honest.

Frankly, OK represented a culmination of stubbornness in people's eyes. With gameplay still just as flawed as before, and writing still weirdly held back, we've all gotten sick of it. This remake selling well would give a message, however small, to Nintendo that we DO like stuff like this and maybe want more. Not that the intended direction for the modern games was bad, but rather what they actually gave us has been extremely flawed and the improvements have been superfluous. It gives the vibes that the "modern" style is not their strong suit and they can't figure it out

The pre-Hooktail pit challenge might still be possible, but I did notice a change between the original and the remaster when you level up. In the original, only the party member you have out heals upon level up. The remake heals all party members.

39:47 If you actually ride the block as it comes up you can use a well timed koops attack to line it up with the elevator button so when mario hits it he can go down and when you are done you release koops and he will hit the button for you. No backtracking required. Hopefully this trick still works like in the original
