Soundcheck from the show in Avesta, Sweden on August 6,1983. Taken from the "Summer '83" bootleg.
I don't hear Phil playing here, but Sykes, Downey, and Mark Stanway are having a nice jam.

Note: This is not the same as the second disk of the Zoom Club 2-disc release, which claims the second disk is from Avesta. The recordings don't match. Makes you wonder what show that other SBD fragment is really from...

I was inside with friends and we met Phil in the grass outside soundcheck, and we also saw this soundcheck and got some autographs

cool, i was outside at parkinglot when they soundchecked :) Avesta Folketspark late summer of 83, i remember i bought a thunder and lightning tour t-shirt at the stand. even after they broken up they sold these shirts.

Certain bits sound like 'Who's Crying Now' by Journey.

Lizzy toured / opened up for Journey in the USA in the late 70's - the tour where Gary Moore abruptly quit after a show in the American South; and Midge Ure ( very ) quickly joined the band at Phil Lynott's invitation.....there's a great interview with him here on youtube where talks about it - very interesting for any fan of the band~

They played Alingsås north of Gothenburg 8 august 1983 if I remember correctly

Well, Scott Gorham doesn't even remember what year he joined Thin Lizzy, so I wouldn't put it past some of these musicians to forget things. Could be as simple as something being misread or mislabeled. Lizzy collectors over the years have been very detailed about dates/venues/shows and I'd be surprised that the person who passed this along to Bondage could get it wrong. Unless the taper comes forward, there's no way in knowing for sure.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. I'm referring to the "Live in Sweden" limited edition version with the two disks. The first of which is from Örebro, and the second of which is supposedly from Avesta. If you listen to that second disc against this bootleg, they aren't the same show. Either Bondage or Zoom Club has wrong info. I tend to think probably Zoom Club, because I'm sure the person that supplied the show for Bondage had the taper's info.

That said, Mark Stanway was the one who supplied Zoom Club with the SBDs from the two Sweden gigs. It's hard to believe he would be wrong either. So who knows. All I know was that they didn't do two shows that day, so one of the shows took place at a different time/place.

I was there and have a tape copy of the show that I bought in the late 80's or early 90's. If you could upload the whole show I can compare if it's the same one as I have. I've bought the Zoom Club cd as I heard it was from Avesta, but by mistake I bought the single cd so all I got was the show from Örebro.

I should also mention that the Zoom Club releases aren't really considered legitimate official releases. They certainly weren't approved by anyone in the Lizzy camp. I tend to refer to them as official bootlegs.

Nah probably not. If you have an account over at DimeADozen, it can be downloaded over there. It was just upped about a week ago. Eventually however, I will upload all the Three Musketeers shows. I have them all, but not for awhile yet.
