Interesting video and topic, Marc! I looked at my collection and I would pick only 2 watches for the apocalypse! 1. Citizen Promaster Diver with Eco-Drive. So, it is 200m ISO certified diver that is solar charged and I think it has the strongest lume of the bunch. I think Jody tested it on Lume Wars and light lasted longer than Rolex Submariner. My definitive choice. 2. Seiko 5 - snk805k2. Green, field like watch that kinda lasts forever. I could pick third watch: G-shock, but it is powered by battery and I'd rather not take simple battery quartz that would die in 2 or 3 years. I imagine it would be pain to search for batteries...

Gotta say the good old G-shock 5610 has seen 100% of wrist time in the past couple weeks and will be on for the foreseeable future. Nice to have something I know will handle anything I throw at it. No worries about various cleaners getting on it, and wash it along with my hands every time. Plus, this way I never even have to pause to think about what is on the wrist before doing any cleaning. Sure I guess any of my divers would be fine too, but the G Shock is just made for this. Stay safe all.

Id take ANY solar powered watch with some water resisitance and can give you barameter readings. You can use Barameter changes to tell if the weather is giong to change in the next few hours. G shock is fine but too many people overlook protreks. Also loom don't do shit for you at 2 in the morning so get something with a backlight.

Mark,..that Sinn U1 is over the top. I just ordered an SRP779J1 last night,...and it's on the way to the VERY remote Alaska location where I work as a pro contract firefighter. My quartz chrono (Isobrite 401 T100),..just decided to stop telling time. The stop watch function, including all the hands, work fine, but the second hand won't move in time keeping mode, nor will the hour and minute hands. I ordered batteries that will hopefully arrive in two weeks, just to see if batteries will solve the issues with the quartz watch, but I've got a bad feeling since the stop watch functions all work fine, but the time keeping does not. If I"m lucky, my new Turtle maybe the same plane that will bring the batteries. If batteries solve the problem,...I'm gonna sell it, as it's been recently serviced and documented as passed. Aug of 2018,...had my Isobrite Chrono serviced....and here I am, dead in the water with a watch that is SUPPOSED to have a 54 month battery life. I hate not having it on my wrist, but now it's basically as useful as teats on a boar. Having an automatic will solve that issue for me, and also give me a chance to learn more about them. I've spent a lot of my spare time watching your videos and those of others who are modding these Seikos,...and it gives me something new to learn about. I really like your channel and presentation style and have learned a bunch from you. Stay safe.

Entertaining video under the circumstances. Clearly, the no brainer choice is a solar G-Shock. An automatic watch would have to be serviced. Battery powered watches will stop working unless you bring a handful of batteries with you. I’m also pretty certain that in the apocalypse the tower in Colorado would be a non-issue. Having said that, I don’t think I would need three watches for the end of times, and knowing what time it is during the apocalypse would probably be pretty low on my list of priorities.LOL!

Take the U1 to the apokalypse because your G-Shock, although solar powered, contains a battery that will eventually loose charge. I just had to change mine and it sucked beause of three little springs hopping out of the case. That got me thinking of TGV, who made video where he basically said: "No more Casio for me, i'm casioed out." The lab that sets the official time of the US is NIST (National Institute of Standards and Testing), and is in Boulder, Colorado not Fort Collins, Colorado! NIST is down the street from CU Boulder, one of the top physics and aerospace engineering universities in the country, if not the world. Colorado State University is in Fort Collins, CO, and is also great and has a really good veterinarian medicine program, among other great programs. It's more chill than CU. CU and CSU are massive rivals, and only about an hour away. I recently graduated from CU (philosophy and physics) and have driven by NIST many times, and many of the physics people I met at CU work at NIST or JILA (another world class physics lab, whose building adjoins the CU Physics and Astrophysics department's building). Colorado School of Mines is the other really big institution I know of in CO, but it is more more specialized to begin with than the two mentioned state, i.e. public, schools. #skobuffs
