That first weedeater was definitely one of the best weedeaters made out there. That is a weedeater GTI17. I am glad you saved it from the landfill. Great job fixing that GTI, even before you fixed the recoil, im surprised that it still is running after all these years. Careful with the ethanol content in the gas as it will slowly eat up a good engine. In fact the older weedeaters are a lot more serviceable than the new ones out today. Great job on the GTI and the mcculloch.

I’m not sure what model it is, but it’s definitely a great weed eater for coming to life with basically only a carb clean and a new pull rope

As a matter of fact, I worked at a small engine repair shop for at least three years, and these older weedeaters, as well as a lawnmowers, chainsaws, blowers, etc. were a lot easier to fix. In fact, I was trying to fix a customer ‘s even with it, Troy bilt snowblower and it was a pain in the ass to get to the fuel lines and I have attempted to repair a crapsman snowblower which kept surging out. The newest of the small engine equipment is more of a pain to fix, and you are right, the older ones are much easier to fix compared to the new ones and these rare Weed eater GTI trimmers were one solid green machines back in the late 80s or 90s, yet they are more dependable than the hyper tough. In fact, I have GTI 15T, a Stihl FS94R and a Stihl FS40C trimmers and the GTI 15T is still serviceable after all the years of use and I use trufuel 40:1 in my GTI15T and trufuel 50:1 in my Stihls. You can get Ethanol free gas like trufuel.
