As an Italian, this video is hilarious and deeply saddening at the same time. I love how you make fun of this content but I don't think they understand how horrible the mafia actually is here. I remember reading comments under one of these TikToks of someone saying the mafia was okay because they just fight other mafia groups but they have respect for women and children while this is so very wrong. Children are being kidnapped and killed in acid, women are beaten, raped, killed and abandoned as revenge, civilians are killed in bomb attacks - it's a tragedy and these dickheads have the gut to make it a trend?! It's unbelievable and very ignorant to me.

Not defending those guys, and I might be wrong, but from what I hear the American Mafia is a lot less vile than the original Italian Mob. Unlike the Families in Italy, there does seem to be a general rule among American Mobsters to not harm women and children, which is why a guy like Michael Franzese didn't feel worried about his family's safety after he betrayed the Family. That's probably where those commenters and these TikTokers are getting their ideas of the Mafia from.

The concept of the Italian Mafia is an extremely relevant story theme on Wattpad and other book-sharing websites. It's disgusting. These teenage girls (mostly) are the authors behind these stories, and they obviously don't understand what they're writing about. The Mafia has committed horrible, unthinkable crimes, and these girls are just like, "Ha, ha, and he inherited the business at eighteen, and some random defenseless girl is sold to him, and he treats her like shit. Unless someone else attempts to hurt her, then he goes wild. He kills people in a cool way but she only questions his sanity once, because he explains that he has to murder innocent people. And it's never discussed again." Wow. Great book idea. What the heck-

I think, since Americans haven't had a big major mafia scandal or incident they are more eager to see mafia characters as fictional, adventurous and misterious, so they don't feel weird about it. Here in Italy if you joke about it there's a chance you'll do it in front of someone that lost family members or their business to these people.
@thechandraraj64153 жыл бұрын
In America we do have mafia influence, its just not as widely known or widespread. Chicago is absolutely a place with mafia influence and history. I will confess that a lot of that is also highly glamorized.

The things is America is such a big country only a few cities have to deal with them to the point that they might as well not exist to the rest of the country. It’s even more insane when you realize it’s not even just the mafia there is the cartel, hell’s angels, and a ton of other gangs spread out everywhere so instead I fearing the mafia they have some equivalent where they live or live in the vast rural parts of the country where gangs are non existent. So in short the mafia isn’t a big deal in America because they only occupy a small area and have to share the country with hundreds of other gangs as well as giant areas where it would t be profitable to have a gang whereas Italy is much smaller so the mafia would be much more prevalent there.
@auroraragazzoni45333 жыл бұрын
So, this is just my opinion, don't @ me For Americans, if something is not strictly historically problematic in their culture, they don't care. They think they do the right thing "protecting others' cultures" (as if cultural appropriation, for exemple, was a problem in any other country and as if others couldn't defend themselves if they felt the need to), but they don't care about anyone who isn't them. This doesn't count for everyone, but on the internet I've seen so many people acting like the most uneducated and close-minded superheroes and getting praised for it that now it's hard to see it in any other way

In my country if someone says they are part of a certain group and they aren’t, that certain group uses them as an example and either does a punishment shooting (where they shoot you in the leg usually, a lot of times they still die) or they knee cap them or they kill them or their family home gets bombed or they just go missing. Being in the mob sucks ass you either gonna be a shitty associate and if your Lucky your gonna be a soldier. Your gonna drive around your boss. Take orders like a bitch. And doing things you would never do. Eventually your gonna die isolated if you make it alive through the years. What a shitty live. Godfather romantizes the mob i know its cool having your hand kissed but you will never make it to the rank of don. Goodfellas is a good movie for people who wanna be a gangster.

Unfortunately since all of it was plastic miniatures, they didn't actually work. So, no one could here tiny Kurtis, as he was too quiet with his tiny little voice.
