Meanwhile greninja was hit head on by a STAB razor leaf (if i rembember correctly) mid air and recovered on time to avoid a frenzy plant. Also sceptile should at least kind of blocked greninja attack whit his own attack and yet that didnt work and he was knocked out by a attack which he is 4x times resistant

Sawyer _was_ a threat to Ash. He starts off as this rookie who looked up to Ash and his first gym battle against Valerie (fairy type gym leader), he used fcking Bagon. He got instantly wiped in front of a literal audience including Ash and co. As Ash nears Wulfric, the 8th gym leader, he meets Sawyer again and the two battle, Greninja vs Sceptile. During this time, Ash was obsessed with using the Ash-Greninja form, but he couldn't get it. This doesn't mean Sawyer was slaking (heh) though, becuse by this time, Sawyer had gotten all 8 gym badges before Ash, and Sceptile wins the fight. When Ash loses against Wulfric, Sawyer legit walks away disappointed
