So who came up with “orange really is the new black” joke? That was iconic

Right?! I can't believe we have Lovett and Judd Apatow to blame for Trump hating Obama so much in the first place. Though to be fair, Trump had been talking about running for president since the early 90s at least, specifically as a Republican even though he was a long time democratic donor to people like Bill and Hillary Clinton. So his presidency can't be entirely blamed on them lol

Seth Myers put the tin lid on it! That was a full-on roast.

The "YOU get a drink with Mitch" line sounds so much like Lovett in retrospect.

Both you guys are great. I've watched Correspondents Dinner 2011 many, many times and it doesn't get old. That was the last time Trump attended the Dinner. You definitely left a mark that will last till the end of time. Thanks for the laughs.

I tell the story of these two writing the Trump jokes to demonstrate the idea of a "butterfly effect" for how a very small joke can result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. We'll never know for sure if that's why he ran... but we know.

Yes. Trump deserved to be treated how he was treated. Some people knew lots about him , and others didn't. Now we all know, and I don't know how anyone could now say Trump did not deserve to be treated that way. If only people picked up on how New Yorkers tried to warn people. He had to move to Florida they hate him so much.

@Mike Ross New Yorker here. You are absolutely spot on. I agree. Trump was an NYC side show, a celebrity dumbass who only made the covers of the NYPost or the Daily News and was hated. Every building that bore name - was a constant reminder of his greed. Meanwhile, the people who voted for him hate New Yorkers - but they love him...a man who embodies the very worst of society...direct from Queens and Manhattan...a man who doesn't give a flying F about anyone but himself. THIS crap better end soon.

Sure, New Yorkers knew him better, but all of the information about his entire life of crappy behavior was freely available on the same Internet we all have. It was knowable for anyone that cared to look. Sad.

I've watched that correspondent's dinner several times and always assumed that I didn't get the joke because I'd never seen the apprentice. Only watching it here did I realize that the joke included everything necessary for even me to understand it. I hate when my lightbulb moments make me feel dim. Your joke now seems prescient.

As a fan of The Apprentice it was even funnier if you saw it. That was only two episodes after MeatLoaf almost took Garey Busey's head off his shoulders because he thought he stole his paint supplies. It's the closest to a real-life murder you'll ever see on TV. They found the paints in another bag on the other side of the room. Nobody was proud.

What's so amazing and impressive about Trump is that he doesn't need or have any joke writers. He's completely spontaneous, off the cuff and *authentically and naturally humorous* , *ALL* the time!
