The Tissington Trail Parsley Hey to Ashbourne

A visit to the Peak District to tick off a trail from my Bucket List. This is the Tissington Trail of 3, the other 2 are the High Peaks and Monsal Trail which I have already completed.
The ride really starts at cafe at Parsley Hey abd following the High Peaks for about 200m before turning right at the fork for the Tissington Trail.
Starting from the cafe to Asbourne you have the advanatage of a slihght gradient down all the way. Not alot but you do realise it and it is an advantage. 14 miles in total in just over an hour

Did this route in 1997. Ashbourne Tunnel was not accessible then. Great landscape to explore!

We did it both ways in 1997. Ashbourne to Parsley Hay and Dowlow/Hurdlow as far as the limestone quarries and then back to Ashbourne. It's all uphill from Ashbourne and downhill back to Ashbourne! Lived in this area from 1955 to 1971 and then continued to regularly visit until 2002 when I lost my last relative there. You could perhaps try the Biddulph Valley Way from Bucknall to Congleton via Chatterley Whitfield colliery, Brindley Ford, Knypersley, Gillow Heath (for Biddulph),Whitmore and Congeton (Brunswick Wharf). A approx 10 mile ride full of industrial history and another disused converted railway. Been exploring landscape in UK and Europe for 60 years using feet, bikes, sailing dinghies, canal boats, microlites, light aircraft and gliders. Live in East Anglia now. A very different landscape!

I did this today. From Brassington to parsing, then Down to tissington.. stopped for a drink at the shop there and did u turn. Covered 25.4 miles. Aching a little tbh now 😂
