I bought a bottle of the bronze and light bronze for my necrons and then spent entirely too much money on a boatload of other monument hobbies goods.

In addition to the white, Dark Ivory and Bright Ivory get regular use at my table. Dark Ivory is the brightest colour I use for bone, meanwhile the Bright Ivory serves as the base when I want to do red/orange OSL. Since the Ivory is already slightly warm, it helps keep the warmth.

Dark Ivory is from Ninjon's set is sooo good. It gives the best off white and reads very warm.

I use Monument a lot. For the most part the coverage of their paint is excellent. I use Vallejo for my metallics and Tamiya for transparents. Titanium white from PA is the best white you can get. The Pyrrole Red is fantastic too. For black I use Vallejo. Contrast/speed paints I use Citadel. The fluorescents I use are PA. I use Game Inks from Vallejo and Newsh from PA is amazing. One my favorite thing about Monument is that they are pretty active with their customers on Discord. There is absolutely no issues getting ahold of them and they back their products 100%. Monument is definitely my favorite paint/hobby company to purchase from.

You should check out the scale75 metallics, some of the best gold, copper and bronze paints for minis IMO

My personal favorite Pro Acryl is Jade. Gorgeous tone with incredible vibrancy and good coverage. Definitely agree with the ochre and yellow. Ochre I love working with, Golden Yellow is 🤢 Even for a yellow paint it's shockingly poor to work with, which is disappointing considering how much I enjoy a lot of the rest of their range.

I was convinced by a fellow painter to try out pro acryl strictly for mixing tones and highlights and so far I have not been dissappointed. Currently I own, warm flesh, Ninjons Dark Ivory, and Vincy V's white blue. I love how potent the pigments in them are, they really create some very saturated mixes and are phenomenal for edge highlighting

ive decided ive had enough of citadels regular acrylics. Im gonna give PA a shot. Budget is around 200$ so picking up the base set, the metallic set. Trying to figure out how im filling out the rest. Holding on to contrast paints for flesh tones, and the i guess im a crazy person cause i like the new citadel shades.

Love Pro Acryl, I'm even a big fan of their brushes both Sables and Synthetics. For some reason I find myself using their Sable Size 3 the most. For synthetics, I like their Size 2, 4 and 6. Most synthetics eventually end up with a discolored tip curl, but the owner of Monument Hobbies has been pushing Synthetics for years and they make some of the best. He has a video explaining why and how to avoid the infamous tip curl (He paints his synthetics slightly modifying his brush strokes so the majority of the bristles are depositing the paint. His Synthetics have longer bristles and they have a nice firm snap) I own the majority of their paint line, except for thier flesh tones, but thats only because my current proejcts don't have much if any flesh. I just picked up their Signature Series 3 and 4 paint sets which introduce some new custom colors from Matt Cexwish and Ben Komets which have introduced Pro Acryls first Satin and Gloss paints, before anyone groans, sometimes Matte Colors don't always make sense. For example the new Dark Crimson from Matt Cexwish dries with a Gloss finish, because its a color he mixes more for effects such as blood effects, red leather, etc...as well as a new paint called Petroleum Brown Gloss Paint which can be used for all sorts of weathering effects. They also introduced a new version of Bold Titanium White called Heavy Titanium White that is a little thicker, less chalky and is easier to dilute, but also dries with a Satin finish. (If your still a die hard Matte paint fan, he is currently working on a Matte Medium) Thier are a lot of new Dark Blue Green paints that were introduced in the last 2 Signature sets that are close to being Jade, but lean more towards Incubi Darkness and a few that are not as dark such as Dark Emerald, Green Oxide, a new color called "Bone". Imagine Ivory except it leans on the colder spectrum. I love their Washes, especially the Black Wash, unfortunately, their range of washes only contains 3 (Black, Flesh and Brown) . Admittedly I'm still struggling with how to use their transparent. They are too saturated straight out of the bottle and are easily diluted, which is the part I struggle with. Apparently, you can mix them straight into their paint and they have their consistency of water. someone suggested I should try using them with an air brush starting with a mix of 50/50 Transparent Paint\Flow Improver. Still havent found many video tutorials for thier transparent paints which I could use. After Crash Course mentioned how good Ninjon's Warm Brown is, now I have to pick it up.... I'm a sucker for paint recommendations....

Mix the Transparents with Contrast Medium to turn them into Speed Paints. And you need to mix them. Ninjon has an entire show about using them.

I second Warm Brown solid paint. If you want a secondary brown I absolutely ADORE Mahogany. It's a beautifully rich red-brown that works so well as an interesting shadow color or base layer for darker colors and materials. Since I'm already recommending colors, Dark Magenta has become a staple to my style of painting as an interesting undershade that I cannot recommend enough, especially for things in the yellow to green spectrum.

It was the Paynes Gray that had me pull the trigger on sets, was looking to replace so VGC and the new bottles put me off (some apparent formula changes too). Being familiar with the colour from art inks it was nice to find a range that described the colour rather than a random name

I bought the base set and some of the expansion paints as singles and I'm switching to ak interactive and two thin coats. The lack of colors isn't really good for beginners. I also found that after I figured out how to thin citadel paints and switched to the pro acryl, I had to relearn how to thin thicker paints down again. I love the line, but I'm finding that it has hurt my ability with the basics and I'm going to be moving away from them. That said, I do think I will be sticking with their metallics

That's interesting, and helpful, that this video appeared in my recommendations as I've been looking at replacing some of the Vallejo Game Colour paints I bought initially because they are too glossy. I want true matte paints, not satin like GW or shiny like the Game Colour range. I like the sound of the metallic medium though as I could probably use the GC range for different colour metallics. Red, orange and green for example. Thanks for the video. 👍🏻

Outside of white gold and dark bronze, not a fan of their metal paints. The metal color vallajo is better by far outside of copor. That said i absolutely love the monument color paints. They are great value, good flow, not expensive. Love them overall. Im not very good woth their transparent paint. Ive treated them like contrast paint.

I love pro acryl as well. I have a question though. Instead of buying their transparent line, do you think I could get the same benefit by mixing my Vallejo inks with the pro acryl glaze/wash medium?

The really bright colors like pyrole red or bright yellow green or super saturated like royal purple are my go to from proacryl. I had an issue with dark ivory which was really disappointing for me cause I havent had an issue with any of their range other than that one. It has a weird texture and I think I just got a bad bottle but its made mea bit sketchy

Must be a batch problem because I also have some issues with both sets. The bottles are harder to squeeze and the other problem (also with base colours) is that some paint gets stuck near the cap and becomes thicker and when you squeeze nothing comes out or a big splotch of paint. Still amazing paints but they need good mixing and even mixing in the cap.

Love Pro Acryl but don't care for their metallics. For metallics it's Scale 75 for me. But you do have to shake them for an hour. Going to check out some of the others you mentioned.

I have a review of Fanatic coming very soon. Just a quick overview of my experience with them. They are a big step up from war paints and I prefer them for glazing but overall don’t think they reinvent the wheel or anything. I’d say they are now on par with Vallejo or MH but perform slightly different. Just depends on what you like but I’d caution on going all in on the $400+ big box before you try a few. I guess it depends on how many paints you currently own as well.

The only metallic I have from Monument is Bright Gold...it looks great but it depends on the angle it's viewed at. Viewing it straight on more or less is great, but the further angle away from straight on viewing, it turns this weird ultra flat cinnamon color in stark contrast to the color seen when viewing it straight on. I'm concerned about the other metallics from them will have the same issue. Has anyone noticed this? Maybe I got a bad bottle...

The bright gold has a very warm undertone to me - I can definitely see how you would see it as having a cinnamon tone. But I wouldn't call it ultra flat. I don't use it all that often. I like it better mixed with White Gold or with Light Bronze. Usually I would use one of those two colors as the main color and tint it more warm with the Bright Gold.

It's the fact that the tone changes so dramatically depending on how you view it on the model. It turns ultra flat when it changes to the cinnamon tone. Never had any other paint do that before. I'll try their White Gold and Light Bronze as you suggested. Thanks for the tip! :) I did mix some white with the Bright Gold and then some Black and it gave a nice light and dark bronze color and I didn't notice the tone change depending on the angle it's viewed.@@bettsdn

I have been painting minis for 10 years now, and I still struggle with metallic paints. A lot of people use them. Do yall not varnish your painted minis before you play with them? Matte varnish completely kills the metallic paints effect, gloss varnish just makes it look wrong and weird.

I haven’t varnished the majority of my armies and never had a problem. I store them in a magnetic storage tub instead of foam. I think normal play isn’t going to hurt most paints

I add varnish before I apply the majority of my metallics, and if I need to revarnish I will do my best to mask off the areas with metallic applied.
