You Got The Ball If a creature has the ball it gains "Tap: Pass the ball to another creature you control" and "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card". Whenever a creature with the ball is blocked, it passes the ball to a creature that blocked it of its controller's choosing.

I think something cool for jigsaw cards could be reintroducing trap instants, and it could be various traps from the movies that all have the classic “pay 0” text as the other traps do and each does something different. For example the reverse bear trap you could cast for free if the opponent who’s turn it is doesn’t attack any of your opponents and it makes them lose half their life (like how in the movie if Amanda didn’t “attack” her cell mate to get the key the bear trap would go off)

Flip walkers for the "main" characters like The Chosen Undead or The Ashen one, a new reverse The Ring effect of igniting the First Flame, plenty of cool Equipment and Boss legendary creatures. Enchantment: whenever a player commits a foul against a permanent an opponent controls, opponents flips a coin. For every heads, opponent puts a +1/+1 on target creature.

If it was for me to create it, the basketball would be like this: Whenever ~basketball player card~ ETBs you create The Ball, a legendary artifact equipment token with "equiped creature gains +2/+2, trample, haste and vigilance. Whenever a creature an opponent controls deals combat damage to equipped creature, give control of The Ball to that opponent and equip The Ball to that creature. 2: equip The Ball to a creature you control"

I have a few ideas for almost every one of these. I think the one I kinda like the most if funnily from the coaster set. The coaster that was blue and flipped into green, and made a token of itself scute swarm style. Basically you could do that where you can only tranform it once per turn, and when it transforms you make a copy of the first side, then if you control 3/4 of the transformed ones youd win the game. Kinda does both of what Cam was wanting from that (and some other) cards. Similar to Biovisonary

the ball - equipment - when equiped creature deals combat damage to a player give the ball to that opponent. when equipped creature leaves the battlefield give the ball to another player. if 4 or less damage was done you get 2 points. if 5 or more damage was done you get 5 points. and then the player cards get buffs the more points you have or the more points that creature has scored

I really enjoy making custom Secret Layers for stuff like this and actually just made one for Super Smash Bros and Pokemon :P My favorite to design was Samus, since I realized you can give her Morph (as in Morph Ball) and when she unmorphs she can perform a Bomb Jump (gains temporary flying and Discovers 3, to represent how bombs in her games often open secret passages with powerups inside).

i think the reason a lotta custom magic stuff transforms is it is just the best way to depict character growth, unless you have space in a set to depict a character at multiple stages of life (like the lotr set) its gonna be easier n more flavorful to print em as flip cards.

Really late to the party on this one, but just the other week I was thinking about a Berserk themed "reskinned" Malcom (Puck) Tymna (Guts) cEDH deck. The thing that kicked it off was imagining a Doomsday proxy depicting the scene from the start of the series where Guts confronts the Godhand. Demonic Tutor featuring Nosferatu Zodd, etc etc.

A mini game in a game. Make it where you can pay 1 or 2 to pass the ball (equip to another creature), but you can only pass twice per turn. And each time a creature with the ball deals combat damage (make a bucket), the creature gets a +1/+1 counter (heating up), but if a creature that attacked while equipped with the ball doesn’t deal combat damage to a player this turn, it gains a a -1/-1 counter (cooling off)

For the Dragonball UB I would make the saiyans have "when this creature takes damage but isn't detroyed, put a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to its power." to immitate a zenkai boost. As for death note i would think Light would have an activated ability that says "target creature gets fading 3, put 3 fading counters on it. Its controller investigates".

I've got so many ideas for Universes Beyond things, but my number 1 pick has to be Call of Duty Zombies because I feel like there is just a lot of potential with the characters and their backstories, and there are also lots of different important artifacts as well as a lot of unique zombies and zombie types, AND there's even the Apothicons which are kinda Eldrazi-esque, so I feel like a lot of cards could be really big fan favorites for people who like those things, plus the only guns you'd really include would be like the Ray Gun and Wonder weapons like that so it's not really dipping too hard into real life things.

40:02 I built a deck with Volo, Itinerant Scholar and Cultist of the Absolute with that theme. It had the option to foretell a bunch of removal cards like how you can write the cause before the name in the notebook. There were a few things that represent shinigami. Willbreaker to represent the ability of the notebook to control the victims. Demonic tutor could be ryuk. Misa misa could be mari, the k--ing quill. Rem is visara the dreadful. I just had so much fun with this deck

The Nintendo one would need a Kogla and Yidaro reprint as Donkey Kong and Bowser. The Dragon Ball one would need a "Ha-Kai" card that has "destroy target creature or land." Berserk would need lots of demon, soldier, and cleric type cards for sure. Skeleton Knight needs an attack trigger similar to Ravenous Tyrannosaurus, I think, and some of the demons will need Devour. Behelit of the King and Dragonslayer as legendary artifacts.

I know magic is your go to heavy focus game, but I feel like the both of you would really dig competitive pokemon - particularly something like a draft league. Tons of interesting synergies, a cool social element, and infinite ways to fiddle with different builds

Dungeon mechanic for the basketball theme could be cool where is a multi person dugeon where the 'ball' starts in the center and it moves one way during upkeeps. maybe make the 'ball' like coveted jewel based on damage or any player may activate this equip cost where it has to be higher than the creatures power?

Matrix Universes Beyond could use a similar mechanic to the sectors ruling on Space Beleren. You divide the battlefield into the Matrix and the real world. Some characters have abilities that move them between the two or give them bonuses when they are in the Matrix.

My idea for expressing the Bleach swords: Give the Shinigami effects like Evolved Sleeper has. Slowly pump more mana into them to get them from sealed to shikai to bankai.

I feel like adding a mechanic for Bioshock like energy counters but they use Adam instead and then you can cast plasmids and other powers like the tonics from infinite. (Maybe they have Little Sister cards and if you choose to cure them or harvest them it gives you different amounts of Adam for it but also gives you a bonus for saving them to keep it on flavor)

Then that opponent chooses a creature they control. That creature has the ball." Pass would just move an equipment or if there is no ball create one attached to a creature you control.

Dishonored I would see more like the Strixhaven MDFC. You get to choose if you go the high chaos route or the low chaos route. On one side Corvo would be Black/White, the other Black/red? Could be cool!

Had a thought about the super hero stuff at the ~ 9:10 ~ mark. You could just make it so that they have a modified version of "More than meets the eye" from the double sided transformers cards except its called something like "Superhero Landing" and can be played at flash speed if you're being attacked.

What if when he enters the battlefield each opponent sacrifices a creature that would play to his mercenary skills but his power and toughness are hilariously low like a 1/1 and you also give him the cast from anywhere affect. That would kind of show Deadpool‘s silly side like go ahead and attack me or kill me. I’m just gonna come back in merc your creatures again. Ok we need to talk more about this NBA idea. Having a 'ball' token, yes, genius. Your objective is to 'score', ie whatever creature has the ball needs to deal combat damage to a player. So 'Pass' is a way to swap the ball so you can give it to an unblocked creature. Then you've got various effects that apply to a score, like Layup, Dunk, Fadeaway, 3 pointer etc. Then players have extra effects, like Shaq has Trample and "Backboard Breaking Dunk: Whenever Shaq Dunks, destroy target artifact or enchantment that opponent controls".

I was New Zealand Pokemon 2nd place getter for gold silver crystal in 2001. Some battles took nearly an hour, using a link cable that disconnected sometimes. Snorlax and lots of switching and tanking hits. 6v6 singles. Writing down moves your opponents used on refill paper. Won a gameboy advance. Played the crap, 10,000 hours total easy for the first 6 gens of Pokemon.

I'd love to see an NFL Universes Beyond set. They could give each of the 32 NFL teams a unique color identity to represent them. Pats, WUR, obviously. Saints could be WB, Buccs WBR, Seahawks UG, and so on. The Browns could be the colorless team since they'd be "mono-brown" like the old artifact frame.
