I agree with this, like if they wanted it to be So InClUsIvE, why didn’t they just design a new neutral palette that - at the very least - we hadn’t seen yet…. I just feel like you can do color and boldness in a way that is inclusive to all styles of makeup and remain relatively universal. The sad part is, MAC knows how to and can do it too.

In game the makeup, other then like the blush and some of the lipsticks is like unusable too. Most look weird on darker sims. The sliders can help a little bit but not much.

Honestly marketed differently the “chorizo” lipstick would hit, it’s beautiful colors, marbled (which isn’t common) & has peppers (lip plumper) remove the pizza company, add some hydration or staying power and a big brand and it would be a total hit.

Interestingly I just recently saw that Walmart has Cheetos makeup, Nacho Cheese Doritos makeup, and Cool Ranch Doritos makeup. It doesn’t have a brand associated with it that I can tell but there are also brushes and Fruity Pebbles stuff too.

I'm late to this video, but the image you put up for the makeup MAC put into the Sims is custom content, like a mod someone made to put in! They did include makeup, but it didn't look like that - it was also a bit underwhelming, though there are a few bits I use regularly still (a blush/bronzer, the eyeshadows, one of the lip products). They did a variety of things in eyeshadow, eyeliner, blush/bronzer, and lip stuff, but only some of it actually looks good. A certain amount is kind of avant garde and high fashion, which is not what we thought we were getting at all. We assumed it would be like classic MAC products but in the Sims, like your Sim can now wear Ruby Woo or whatever. And the base game makeup is just okay, so we were hoping for more styles and some more trendy things. I guess we kind of got that. The all over blush/bronzer that they included I use on almost every Sim because it does look really naturally blushed/bronzed depending on the colour. The definitely-not-a-sperm eyeliner look, though? That gets used exclusively on aliens and even then it's very sparingly. Compared to the real palette, though, it's a masterpiece! As someone who has played every single Sims game since I was a child, and still plays the Sims and spends money on the Sims, AND someone who loves makeup? I was hyped. I don't like MAC, but I would've spent a lot of money on this. This palette didn't just disappoint the people in the middle of that Venn diagram like I am, it disappointed makeup lovers and also Simmers who don't even care about makeup. It is still one of my biggest disappointments in makeup history, it is such a loss of potential. The Sims franchise is so bright and can be really cartoony at times, and they gave us neutrals? Assorted browns? For a game series that has so many colours associated with it? Like green and the other colours of the plumbob (red, orange, in The Sims 2 you could have a gold or silver plumbob), TS4 has made blue one of its main colours, you could do makeup for Sonny the Tragic Clown, there are moodlet colours in TS4, you could do a grungier palette based on the Grim Reaper, or go blue and swimming pools (everyone has killed at least one Sim in a swimming pool and you can't tell me otherwise). I have no interest in having a makeup brand, but if I did, I would do precisely one collaboration, and it would be with the Sims to try and counteract the disappointment and lost potential MAC had.

47:21 no, you are 100% correct. they were actively promoting this gloss with photo ad campaigns through Instagram. I had screenshoted it, and used it on one of my tik toks from a couple of years ago. I also included Michaela's reaction. I stand by what I said about the glosses (no thank you), and watching poor Mikayla as she tried to choke down that damn smell complete with a lip quiver. 😂 they probably took down all the ads after they sold out realizing that their product going viral was for all the wrong reasons. 😅

The cup noodles thing is so interesting! As a non american, non native english speaker, where i live we dont get nissin instant ramen, we have different brands, and i only learned about nissin/cup noodles existing as an adult on the internet a few years ago and it's never been a topic of actual spoken conversation, only something i've seen in pictures on packaging/written out so to me it's always just been "cup noodles", and hearing it spelled out "cup o' noodles" when speaking feels super weird!
