So this lyric is totally convoluted but the way that I understand it is that the line, "they misunderstand me when THEY say I'm Jesus Christ" requires the line afterwards for context (sounds like a weird way to write a song to me, but whatever). Which is the line RC plays, "I just want them to worship me, I like what I like", so it seems like Future is telling others that he wants to be worshiped; and, people have been misunderstanding him to think that he means he's Jesus.

ppl always get "i want it that way" wrong. if you listen to the verses it means different things. "am i your fire/one desire/believe me when i say iwitw" - asks her to believe he wants to be her desire/fire. "we are two worlds apart/can't reach to your heart/when you say iwitw" - he can't get his feelings across and is upset when she accuses him of wanting them to be two worlds apart etc. "ain't nothin but a heartache/mistake/i never wanna hear you say iwitw" - he asks her to stop saying he is happy about their relationship failing/being a mistake. "you are my fire/one desire/yes i know it's too late/but iwitw" - now he says what he DOES want, for her to be his fire/desire. so "i want it that way" expresses four different things. it's a really clever and cute song lyrically and i still like it! it's misinterpreted so often...almost as bad as "i would do anything for love (but i won't do that)" which uses similar lyrical trick...!

It's sad because the one song that got closest to 'emo rap' was actually XOXO Tour Life. The dark, depressing imagery, the sad tones, the wallowing in his own angst and the slightly edgy lyrics were perfect... until he devolved into the standard brag rap shit. If he kept that up though, XOXO Tour Life could've been a great emo hit. Lines like "All my friends are dead, push me to the edge." are exactly the kind of shit hardcore emo kids love. Source? If you take those two lines out of context from the rest of "I Want It That Way" then sure it sounds bad. But if you put the context back in it makes more sense. It's a breakup song, and the dude is asking his ex to never say that she wants it that way. ("That way" being: them no longer in a relationship.) It's clearer in the second half of the first verse than the chorus I think: "But we are two worlds apart, Can't reach to your heart, When you say, That I want it that way." Is it perfect songwriting? No. As you said, it's a cheesy late 90's teen pop song. But it's not as abusive as you suggest. Otherwise, great video as always.
