This is my second year growing oregano and I have found a few top reasons myself! I started growing oregano as a companion to my tomatoes, the squirrels and chipmunks aren’t too fond of it and they leave the nearby plants alone. This spring I realized how beautiful oregano is year-round. It stays green through the winter and early spring here in CT. It also looks beautiful for weed suppression around my flowers ❤️

I did the same for my hibiscus plants and was amazed they stayed evergreen here in my Upstate NY area zone 5b-6a! I know I'm responding 3 years later but there is a there is also a more chartreuse colored ones called, "Drops of Jupiter' - Ornamental Oregano - Origanum hybrid" by Proven Winners. So pretty and bright and hope they also stay evergreen.

Thanks for the water propagation tip! I bought a little (rescued, basically) some Italian Oregano at Home Depot a year ago, it grew and was evergreen in my zone 5b-6a! I thought, for sure it would wither and die down but nope! I originally got it so I could plant in next to my Rose of Sharon hibiscus plant to repel deer (but my one son loves to pick some for his little soup creations 😄) I definitely want a wave/drift of these for my other plants like hostas (which apparently are deer salad 😩) There is also a more chartreuse colored ones called, "Drops of Jupiter' - Ornamental Oregano - Origanum hybrid" by Proven Winners- I hope these will be evergreen for me! 🌿
