I started with a little 3" nursery pot of oregano seven years ago. It's about 18" wide where it hits the ground, now, and I have cut it in half with a sharp shovel to share with neighbors a few times along the way. It's probably the hardiest herb I grow. Great stuff!

Here in Virginia the wasps love my hot & spicy oregano. I find them hiding in my oregano and my lemon balm daily. Getting ready to harvest oregano for the first time. Thank you for the tips & advice.

I love to do blends of various herbs just this way, mix them in jars for using in red sauce or soup, or whatever! Mint and chamomile are two favs for tea, too. The flavor is so wonderful when grown at home and dried.

Hey Greg, I use to brown bag them and throw them inside my truck windshield. It worked great, quick and the truck smelled nice.

My oregano looks almost exactly like yours! Started from seed last winter and planted outside last spring, it’s grown so we’ll and has taken over that whole part of my garden. If only everything else grew so well too!

My husband grows oregano in pots in the house in the winter so while I do harvest from outside for dried it does grow well in pots in the house for fresh.

I planted oregano transplant last summer under some pepper plants. I did not get this and the plant stayed close to the ground. I put some through the dehydrator in the fall, but this year it is really growing. I will keep an eye on it. I did pull some roots and moved some to another bed. Thanks for the info.

Beautiful Oregano Greg! Any chance of doing an episode on early tomato blight? Our tomato plants are on our deck in a large container and are growing great but now they have brown spots on the leaves😢 the flowers haven't even bloomed yet., Sharon.

I'm really not an expert on it. The few times I've had it, my plants were destroyed. The best way to ensure against it is to grow varieties that are blight resistant, and to have them spaced out so that lots of sun and air can get at the foliage. That's all I know.

My oregano never tastes like oregano especially when I dried it. I only dried it once and maybe I waited too long or maybe it's the variety I'm growing but it had no taste whatsoever. I have it in a pot now because I couldn't keep it under control where it was so I don't get as much but maybe I'll try drying some again before they flower. I'm satisfied with all my other herbs but I've failed at oregano.

Interesting. It could be the variety you used. Try some different varieties and see which one you like

It is the variety because I have a very old piece of oregano I propagated from a plant at our camp from an Italian previous owner. It is highly medicinal and so strong it almost burns your mouth. Seeds I started three yrs ago absolutely has hardly any flavor at all when dried. Totally the variety.

I was watching a video (on youtube) of an actual older italian guy whose family has grown and harvested oregano for personal use and sale, his entire life. He harvests with the flowers, dries them, and separates the leaves for everyday cooking, but also separates and uses the tops with the flowers for "special dishes". He claims that the flavor is better than with just the leaves. Any thoughts? kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooS1YaKGbah_e7c

I've never used the flowers. Interesting video. I'd have to guess he knows what he's talking about :)
