It is very impressive indeed, it's constant work to keep it that way, all the stuff we don't always see in the video, we just get snippets but there is so much more that goes into all this, probably more than many can even comprehend. much respect for Larson Farms in so many ways. I am often gobsmacked really.

If you're thinking the job is done think again. Track alignment is a 4 to 5 hour job, driving 2 miles and checking the blocks with a lazer thermometer gun. If its hotter on one side than the other you adjust a bit and drive 2 miles again.

Speaking of jacks letting go and leaking down it would be nice to see big blocks under there just in case. I doubt if there are jack stands big enough for it. I always used four screw type barn jacks on blocks for safety but I doubt you will find barn jacks anywhere these days. JohnDeere knew all that and didn't tell you because they wanted to sell you the tracks. Bigger swede needs the grass mowed. Good video Winny. Peace.

I was the lucky person to install Soucy tracks on a Claas combine 2 years ago . I think this was a once in a lifetime experience for me . Never again on a combine . Ever . This outfit´s owner had them on a few tractors and they are relatively easy to change but a combine , you´ve stated the obvious ( from my personal experience ) buy factory installed . Tractors that need to have the option to swap around is a different story .

What is with the tech not removing the paint between the housing surfaces, it is a key to remove as the torque will decrease as the paint breaks down.

They never do in ag We used to do chassis up rebuilds of cat dump trucks and dozers I would have been shot for not grinding the paint off Asked the local dealer about that and they looked at me lime I was mad No grinding paint when we toured a few new Holland factorys in Europe either Or the John Deere factorys in America I guess the loads just arnt there and they hours they do arnt there We were doing chassis up rebuilds on dump trucks with 100'000hrs (been rebuilt a few times) That combine will be melted down into a new combine well under 10k hrs We usually move combines on under 3k hrs The repair bills and reliability becomes too much after that
@nateroth1302
@nateroth1302 4 жыл бұрын
@@fowletm1992 Thank for the feedback as I was waiting to see what the tech was going to do as the track housing is paint free but the combine was not as they are submerged painted. It is all relative as the housing are designed to handle the loads of that machine, as a JD Master Tech, all instructions will state to remove all paint for a clean metal to metal contact. This is the biggest issue I have with most techs now days, they don't take the time to do the common sense jobs. Larson Farm just spent big money on this equipment and the tech is not helping the machine live up to its potential. It all comes down to the details to make any machine last as long as possible, it doesn't matter what size of machine.

Interesting video, Tracks are pretty nice, I'm planning to build a half track cargo truck with Combine tracks & backhoe tires, I won't be having the issue of removing final drives or any that mess, but I'm interested in what it'll take to get one installed, not sure how much horsepower that combine's engine has, but I was thinking of using a gas engine instead of diesel, I'm sure the overall half track won't weigh near as much as that huge combine, but I'd like a go anywhere & get some crap done type of work vehicle, need to haul tombstones sometimes & sometimes end up with roads flooded or with icy roads. I was thinking of using a Ford 460 V8 with truck transmission though, keep up the good work & thanks to the Farmers of America for the work they do.
