This is why people who say "this player is a plug, put him on waiver" are not suited to manage a business. You never know what you can flip a player for. Look at Barron, we got Carrier who is also playing an important role.

When you think about it, we can partly thank Tomas Plekanec for Hutson’s pick. In 2017-2018, MTL traded him to Toronto for a 2nd, Kirby Rychel and Rinat Valiev. In summer 2018, MTL traded Valiev and AHLer Matt Taormina for Brett Kulak. The rest is history…

@@philippetessier6126Beck is benefitting from playing top line minites with the rockets. Habs are fighting for a playoff spot and Dvorak provides veteran experience. Doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
@philippetessier612615 күн бұрын
@@jonathandrouin8717 yea that's precisely what scares me about the recent performances. Suddenly, people think the habs are a playoffs team and will be offended if they start selling guys who clearly have no future with us. Dvorak might be a veteran, but he's a glorified 4th liner at this point. Beck should be able to take this low-demand role as an entry point to start adapting to the big league. I really hope hugues doesn't screw anything up by accelerating the rebuild or losing resources to free agency.
@jonathandrouin871715 күн бұрын
@philippetessier6126 center, even on a bottom 6 is not a low demand role, no. You have to be reliable on faceoff, play solid defense and be able to produce at least 20-25pts per season minimum if you want to keep your roster spot. Maybe Beck can do all that already, we don't know that. But what i know is that for his development it's better to play first line, PP and PK with 20mins or so of ice time then play 10-14mins of sheltered ice time in the NHL. Also, in his mid season press conference Hughes said that he wanted to play meaningful games until the end of the season and loading up rookies in the roster would be a step back. It's not about offending people. It's about helping the young players already in the roster into the next gear. Have you missed the first 2 months of the season? It clearly showcased that they were willing to accept the status quo if we were heading into another losing season and were not going to rush things out. At the press conference, Highes also said he had enough picks and prospects and wasn't looking to add more of them. I highly doubt Dvorak has much value and if he does have value you will find someone willing to trade for him before the UFA market opens up during the offseason. You're talking about not rushing the rebuild but here you are trying to rush a prospect into the NHL... kinda contradicting, rebuild implies you let your prospect develop properly so they can be as ready as possible when they make the jump. It would have been easy to call up Beck while Laine was sick to give him an opportunity to prove himself but even then they prefered to keep him down and just give double duties to Suzuki and Caufield and having them alternate on the 2nd line. I think habs fans wants to see prospect too quickly in the NHL and it was an issue for the past 30 years with this team. Look at tampa bay or dallas, they don't rush their prospects in the NHL and they are 2 of the best teams who develop prospects. I am confident eith Hughes for these 2 reasons, he's not trying to rush the rebuild and he's allowing prospects to develop at their own pace, a good example is Kapanen, it would have been easy to stick him in the NHL for the whole season given he was doing all right. But all right is not enough if you want to become an elite team one day. They felt that keeping Kapanen in the NHL would have probably ruined his development offensively and didn't want him to become just a 4th line grinder so they sent him back to Sweden instead where he would benefit from having a higher workload (he has 16pts in 17 games with Timra), they could have also kept Mailloux in the NHL but the way he is going he wouldn't have amounted to much more then Nathan Beaulieu, so they sent him back down because if he'a going to be an NHL player one day, he needs to be better then Beaulieu 2.0.

I feel like the fact that Lane is good def and put up that much point make him as likely if not even more as Celebrini to win it. Even when Lane `slowed down`as you said he didnt actually slow down if you watch the game dude was insane, puck just didnt find the back of the net. Now he is at last on the first PP.

You need different type of players in you top-4 defense. That would make two 5'10", 160lb left shot defensemen. Where would Guhle fit in? Although, if Cole was a right shot, Lane would play with Reinbacher and Cole with Guhle. Both pairs have a small but elite, creative offensive d-man with a 6"2 defensively gifted partner that hits, but can still produce decent numbers and keep up with the Hutson brothers because of their excellent skating. Complete the defensive squad with big, aggressive d-men that can fight like Wifi and Mailloux and that would be one hell of a defense!!
@jonathandrouin871715 күн бұрын
I doubt the Capitals wants to trade Cole Hutson unless you trade them like Demidov or somrthing like that.
@rich.jerkov15 күн бұрын
I don't think anyone was serious with their proposals but to your point, after a world junior's like Cole had, the asking price would be high, very high. Maybe not Demidov high, but I think lots of GMs are looking at Lane with the Habs and Cole at the WJC and kicking themselves for not grabbing their second shot at a Hutson...

Oh how I love it when NHL scouts are shown to be what they actually are, fortune tellers with nothing more than crystal balls to predict the future. Give me a break! NHL scouts are supposed to tell us all what a 17 or 18 year old kid will be when they are 24, 25 or 26. Anyone who has kids knows that is nothing but GARBAGE. The only reason why Hutson wasn't a top 5 pick was his size. Even though he matched (or beat? I can't remember) Makar's points record in a single season for a defenseman, that still didn't change the minds of the scouts???? Another example (of hundreds I have noted), Ethan Frank, currently playing for the Washington Capitals. He was called up to replace an injured player and made is debut in Montreal. He got an assist and showed some nice skill and skating ability. He has now played just 4 games, but has 2 goals and 1 assist. And according to the scouts, this guy COULD NOT play in the NHL. WRONG AGAIN. If you've ever seen the film "Money Ball", the NHL has a similar, though different issue. Scouts have way too much influence on a player's future and essentially a player is capped, no matter how well they play, no matter what kind of numbers they put up, they won't ever be a first line player if they weren't drafted in the first couple rounds. It makes no sense at all...but that's the NHL in the present day.
