I was recently saying the same. I'm not really religious but my partner pointed out that if you believe in anything along the lines of a higher purpose or things happening for a reason, Johnathon Larson fulfilled that. The fact he passed the night before Rent, one of the most influential musicals of all time, premiered off Broadway, is so insanely sad. I wish he were here to see his success and and how many people he has touched but it almost feels like he was here to give us that message and when he did, it was his time. Like he knew he needed to rush to his dreams, almost as if he could tell he didn't have time to keep waiting on it. What he gave us is amazing and I would so love to have more. But wow if anyone has a purpose to fill before they go, he really did that.

@@aleks-33 marfan's syndrome. I know exactly what he felt when his aorta dissected, it's impending doom, the pain is unreal. My Dad was adopted so we found out we all had marfan's in 2000 when his aorta dissected. I'm fortunate I'm in Aus so My Family and I get free medical along with some amazing heart surgeon's in at RPA Sydney. I'm still getting over My second aortic replacement. His blood pressure on one side (probably left) would have been near nothing, should have clued them in something was seriously wrong! I'm hopeful for My Children with the medical advancements that are coming out now.

Hopefully I have it go smoothly and don’t land up with having to experience the pain of the dredged aortic dissection. I wish the film would have brought more awareness to Marfan Syndrome not only for the sake of all the undiagnosed patients but also for signs of early diagnosis and to educate all medical staff in the ER’s worldwide. Many lives could be saved with early diagnosis and proper treatment.

Knowledge is definitely power, getting it changed out before a dissection is definitely the way to go! Health professionals should for sure be trained at least in signs of aortic rupture ey, but so many have never even heard of marfan's. Did You know We have a whole month for Marfan's awareness? I only found out last year about it.

I was a 16 yr old black kid from Brooklyn who never even explored Manhattan. And my theater teacher Ms.Sanservaro showed us the movie, then took us on a trip to see RENT. It was my first play. I'm 31 and still listen to the soundtrack and love theater. Thank you Ms.S and thank you Jonathan. Both of them helped me grow as a human

Makes me think of my Brother... He was in the hospital for a week treating a clot in his leg, and because of miscommunication among the medical team he passed away when the clot traveled... He had been trying to become a police officer for over 5 years... He got accepted into the police academy around the time he was admitted into the hospital. At his funeral, we learned that he touched way more people's lives than we knew. He was about 4 months away from being 33

I never really thought much about Andrew Garfield. I did see the original cast of Rent in 96, thought it was great but wasn't obsessed with it like a lot of my theater friends. However, I did know a lot about Johnathan Larson. When I saw Tick tick boom I started to think about Garfield and his performance. I can't think of another role in which someone was required to be a triple threat but ALSO portray a real person. Not only that-- a beloved man by millions. He hit the ball out of the park.

Garfield is amazing with roles based on real lives. He puts so much work into it, whether Tick Tick Boom or Hacksaw Ridge. But even loving him, I thought he did an outstanding performance in the film, definitely one if not his best.

There's actually a book called Boho Days with all the extensive notes and rewrites. The problem is, and the thing that Stephen Sondheim pointed out in past interviews, is that the show does not work because it doesn't have a solid resolution at the end.

to add on the blurrycake, before sondheim died, he was interviewed about jon, tick tick boom, etc. and he even said that jon didn’t fully develop his full talents. plot was lacking in some points and there were good and bad throughout the entirety of superbia. if there were to have a superbia movie, show, etc, then the person to do it would have to come to terms that jon would be credited for songs and idea, but not the story as it supposedly heavily needed work.

Reminds me of Paganini and Rachmaninoff - both had Marfan’s and both became masters of their instruments, inspiring violinists and pianists for generations! Larson’s heart troubles were a shame, but I’m glad he died doing what he loved! Very unfortunate, but he changed history for the better for sure!

There are waay too many songs from Jonathan Larson that I am in love with, but one of my favorites is 'Love Heals' which is either inspired by, or in memory of, Alison 'Ali' Gertz, one of his friends who passed away from AIDS at a young age. Also, I'm not surprised that Lin-Manuel Miranda did such an amazing job directing a movie about Jonathan. I see so much of Jonathan's influence in Lin's work. And you absolutely cannot deny that both Lin and Jonathan are trailblazers in American theater.

I'm seeing alot of comments saying something along the lines of "it's a shame he never got to see how successful rent was" but knowing his struggle from having Marfans and being a struggling artist myself, the biggest tragedy of his story is he never got to live in comfort while doing what he loved. The stress and heartbreak of poverty is a soul crusher on an artist. I'll never stop being an artist or advocating for Marfans research, and I truly appreciate what he did to make waves in both communities. Such a beautiful soul.

I grew up watching Rent since I was at least 4 or 5, the screen adaptation. My mom and my dad wanted to allow me to be exposed to musical theatre since I was young and oh my god I am so grateful they did. Rent gave me a view of the world and helped develop my values since I was a little girl. I remember when I was 10 my mom surprised me and brought me to Rent Live in my city and I have never felt anything like that high. Jonathan Larson wrote about things in all of his musicals that the world needed to hear. I am grateful he has turned this sour world into a musical rendition. He will be forever loved. ❤️❤️❤️

I got to see Rent for free at my local arena in the front row, and at the time, I thought it was the weirdest plays I’d ever seen. Looking back, and knowing who Johnathan Larson was, I can appreciate it even more. Though I always thought it was a gem of a musical.

Even though his life was not perfect but he did joy life with his friends family his loved ones who told inspire him to be a Broadway show to be a writer a singer who made us laugh who made us cry at the same time we will never forget that day but I hope everyone friends and family will continue his legacy and and I know he was watching his first play in the Broadway show in heaven
