This last theory REALLY makes sense. And is a good twist. Like a more tragic version of Mr. Boss and Numbuh 86. Edit: While making another comment, I realize, this puts the pseudo rivalry between Tommy and Father in a whole new light if the last theory is true. And makes it a bit Harry vs Snape esque. Tommy having a huge beef with a guy his dad once both opposed and worked with. While he figures out his own path.

I would like to think he made an invention that teleported him and I think the trike has AI and he couldn't predict the reaction that the AI had when feeling rejected it was self learning to better respond to its owner. And the father's connection could be that they were friends after all father was a kid too...... My guess he is probably a traveling worker or he did die at some point. Maybe he died because of a faulty invention and his wife tried covering it up for Tommy's and Numbah 2's sake. It could also explain why the grandmother is so dismissive and angry towards Numbah 2. He reminds her of her son/ Son in law/ I don't know which side she's on. But because Numbah 2 is a lot like him she either tries to bury it by calling Hoagie Tommy, out of grief.
