Perturabo will be caught by surprise, long before this tournament started Magnus and Omegan spoke mind to mind. Upon taking to the field against the thousand sons, several of his warriors will vox to him "I am Alpharius" then over 1/2 of his seige weapons detonate. All this time he thought he exterminated Alpharius' warriors only to have over 5 thousand Alpha legionaires to infiltrate his army. Once Magnus and Ahirman see the explosions they would enact a spell to open warp wrifts to summon demons and warp terrors. Perturabo and Magnus will face each other and negotiate a surrender for now. Alpharius wins at the end.

@@robinderoos1166 his actions and personality made everyone hate him and he had a massive sense of entitlement. but its pretty understandable. his memories were erased everytime he learned too much and he was constantly being judged by the great eye. on top of that no one ever asked him to build anything and that was all he wanted. when the emperor finally did ask him to build something he put his whole heart into it...it was on nikea, where they used it to humiliate and judge his only friend. basically he saw it as a massive fuck you. when his deeds were finally put into art his men were lying face down in the dirt and the imperial fists were winning the day. on top of that being made to fight the hrud aged him so much even as an immortal, he felt far older, he was always given the worst treatment.

Perturabo usually fights with tactics to exploit defenses but he's entirely too intelligent to believe that will work with the Thousand Sons. I think here he will probably play a more patient, precision game rather than just going straight at the weaknesses in the Sons defenses. Magnus however probably knows Perturabo's mind better than anyone save Perturabo himself. Was not expecting such an epic finish. I give Magnus and his Sons the slight edge in close matchup.

I suggested this as well. But honestly that protection only extends so far. And is mostly for Daemons. The bulk of World Eaters is Berserkers. While they may have more tactics than that, a fact pointed out to me multiple times this week, their core is still mostly those. So they lost to Magnus mostly for lack of tactical flexibility. Perty...is lots of Dakka. But he also fortifies areas swiftly, can create magnificent traps that fooled even Dorn. And uses Daemons to power it all.

Watching the video, the one thing I kept thinking of was the fact that sorcery is a highly versatile tool that can be used for more than raw offensive power. Furthermore, the Thousand Sons still have normal weapons, aren’t completely incompetent at close range, and may have even brought a few titans with them into the warp if I recall correctly. And they are warp-powered titans.

At the siege of Terra he left, but did such a good job even the idiot forces of Chaos managed to breach the Inner Palace and force the Emperor to duel Horus. But that proves nothing about building. The second? It's called the Iron Cage. You might have heard of it. Even in the most pro-imperium wankfests Dorn still deliberately gets 80% of his Legion killed because he doesn't want to do anything but siege with attrition..Dorm was probably the nb. making him just as bad as he claims Perturabo is. Dorn WAS probably the better defensive strategist, all told, but he was never the better builder.

I’m fine with perturabo being a daemon, I just hope that if he is, the retcon is the reason as to why. He’s too stubborn to ever submit to the chaos gods, and we know that you can have the powers of the warp without being even slightly liked to one or multiple of the gods, but there is also no disputing that it is a huge power bump. I think it would be cooler for him to architect his own ascension as a way to not lose the arms race with his other traitor brothers, because he definitely has enemies amongst them, especially after terra. He’d probably look like a giant metal bettering ram as well

The attrition rule really makes this close. The Thousand Suns would be much more intact in numbers, at this leg of the tournament. But the Iron Warriors would be the more potent legion in this matchup. I think it would be a dead even match in this situation. I had to flip a coin for this, honestly! I'd say Perturabo. He and his legion were made to endure. Perturabo, though touched by chaos but not engulfed by it (as in becoming a Daemon himself), might have kept his respect for Magnus and his tactics. Meanwhile Magnus' arrogance has increased, possibly to a point where he could well be underestimating his brother especially after he became a Daemon Primarch and Perturabo did not. I'm a fan of both legions but in this confrontation I'd give it to Perturabo and the Iron Warriors. Iron within, Iron without.

Since we're not thinking in terms of "attacker" and "defender"; I think Perturabo and the Iron Warriors take it, because of two of their defining features: Grit and Practicality. They know how to use Chaos as another weapon in their arsenal and I'd be very surprised if they, as part of that process, hadn't started devising different methods to deal with the servants of the different Gods. Their fighting style isn't about glory, ego, pleasure or spreading a god's influence, they fight to win no matter the approach or cost. That's why they got all the "ugly" assignments during the Great Crusade to begin with. So just like Perturabo had a specific tactic devised to take down Angron and the World Eaters, I think he would devise something similar to Magnus and his sons, especially given how well he knows him; it'd be an intense battle of the minds for sure, but I think Perturabo's grit and practical approach to warfare would win out.

I factored a few things that Iron Warriors have when deciding against the death guard. They have forge worlds and Heretek connections, it is they who created many engines of war for crusades. They have resistance to corruption and mutation. Also if they can prep the battlefield, they will control it, so it depends which legion makes the first assault. Also both primarchs are spiteful petulant children in their psyche, but Pertie might just be the better tactician this time. We can all probably agree that Iron Warriors and Death Guard are the two most effective legions among the traitors.

If Perty can over come Death Guard, proving he can learn from a loss, then I could see them overcoming the Thousand Sons. But it's going to be a rough fight ahead. Perty will have to figure a way to overcome all of the psychic attacks. And I am unsure how that will take place. Magnus vs Perty, one on one, it really depends if Perty is a Daemon Prince or not. If he isn't...he better enhance his armour. If Malchador can bring down Horus, a non Daemon Prince Perty doesn't have a chance without some ward. As Wolf Lord Rho points out the Iron Warriors have unrelenting firepower advantage here. And though they have taken losses of manpower, so have the Thousand Sons. But the Thousand Sons have taken more losses for sure. So Iron Warriors have numbers. I have to go with Iron Warriors.

While every other legion has legionaries that enjoy what they do, the Iron warriors HATE what they do. That grim determination to end the battle as efficiently as possible, no summoning fickle demons or bloodcrazed charges, just pure firepower and bitterness is what gives them the edge i feel

it's tough, I haven't read enough iron warriors to make a good call, but I completely love the notions of the covidae and aethenians being able to direct the flow of combat, could perterabo conceal his plans or craft them so openly the future and mind reading capabilities are rendered uselss? I loved iron within the short story. but haven't gotten any more material to judge by. gonna go with my gut and say 1k sons!

Yeah I voted for the Thousand sons in every other battle but that was largely because of their ranged advantage. I don't care how much of a Billy big bollocks you are being forced to charge through a sorcerous artillery strike is a seriously bad situation. The portion of your forces that survive are going to arrive out of formation, missing officers and squads are gonna be at half or even quarter strength. Then they have to assault entrenched thousand son positions. The previous two battles basically saw legions being fed to the thousand sons piecemeal. But now Perturabo is playing an uno reverse card and I don't think Magnus can handle it. The one strategy I can see working out is the thousand sons relegating themselves to ranged support for the demons of Tzeentch. But will Magnus swallow his pride to do that? I don't think so.

See, I reckon, between Magnus and Perturabo, it's the latter who is more likely to get duped. He's renowned for being predictable (as much as a crazy chaos demon primarch is predictable) and sticking to what he knows. Magnus (even though he's just a shard or whatever now) would still be able to come up with a grand scheme to trick the big guns of the Iron Warriors. They'll cast spells from afar, time and space, and overstretch the Iron Warriors, pick them off piecemeal and go for the kill...

Even though I'm a TS fan, a straight up ambush attack might kill them. Given time, the Clairvoyance of the TS are extremely deadly and their Order of Ruin can give Perturabo a run for his money with deadly precisions, numerology, and calculations aided by magic. And with preparation, Magnus and his sons can set up a shield that can last forever even Conrad Kurze knows this.

I do imagine Tzeenchian neverborn caming through portals right behind enemy lines, wrenching havok in the heavy artillery while Magnus and his cabal prepare a ritual (Maybe The Rubric?) If Perturabo sit on his ass... His Only alternative is attack before any ritual is complete. Perphaps "employing" nulls? I can see the IV achieving a victory but it will depend how fast it's primarch can nullify the XV

This would be a very awesome match up. The other 3 God's would support Perturabo, which will put Magnus on the ropes. Perturabo would actually welcome the survivors of the other Traitor Legions to join the fray. The Chaos Gods will love this game between their two champions. One thing is certain, Corax and Russ will know of this conflict. They will return to foil the Traitors' plans.

I'm glad my Iron boys made it all the way here. This could go either way, with the TS's pure magical power or the tactical brilliance of the IW and Perturabo. They are one of the best counters to the TS, with being more defensive and overwhelming firepower. Long live Magnus and Iron within,Iron without!

I'm pretty surprised to see the Iron Warriors making it this far, though that is not to say that I am disappointed. I hope to see the Iron Warriors get more and more respect. Though....For the purposes of this contest, I can't see the Iron Warriors coming out over the Thousand Sons. The Thousand Sons' Rubricae can be easily replaced whereas the wounds sustained by the Iron Warriors against the Alpha Legion and Death Guard may be felt more soundly.
