Hello. I just wanted to tell you how refreshingly clear you made this topic. Every detail explained and re-explained and re-explained to the point where the viewer fully grasps how this Trendelenberg Sign manifests. Bravo on a work well done!

It took me such a long time understanding why the problem was in the abductors and not the adductors to have a positive sign on the Trendelenburg's test. I completely understand it now, thank you a lot! It's a very clear explanation, good video!

Thank you. This explains the difficulty I’m having with my gait. I fell and broke my femur below the trochanter in November. The fall also resulted in changing my spinal stenosis from moderate to severe. The femur and spine have been surgically repaired. Now I’m working to rehab everything. This explains why my PT is pushing me to work on my gluteus medius recovery. Now I understand the issue better.
@DSAlthaus3 жыл бұрын
@@debbieb9628 - I go to Duke PT. I have been assigned a variety of HEP2GO exercises designed to both improve the flexibility of the hip flexors and to improve the strength of the glutes, abdominals, perispinals, and flexors. The newest addition to the routine is using the Activator Poles from Urban Poling. These aren’t just any trekking poles. They are designed to help with recovery. I can only due about 10 minutes every other day. (I can ride my recumbent trike 20+ miles in a couple of hours.). These really work my back and hips hard. They work, but go slow and increase the time very slowly.

This can also come about with overall weak glutes doesn’t have be a serious medical condition. For example one who sits too much has tight hip flexors that restrict the glutes. I sit too much and definitely have a high hip as a result. Also, standing on one leg is difficult because like he stated in the video I struggle to use my glutes for stability

im sorry i dont understand this part, why should the pelvis tilt downward on the swing limb?, its being raised from the ground so it should take the pelvis upward with it, right?
@haidyhamdy5816 жыл бұрын
aya mostafa Actually no. Try to walk and observe your leg’s motion , the hip is not raised, you raise your foot by bending your leg (flexing the leg at the knee joint) so it seems as you raise your leg but you really just bend it. And when it’s bent, it’s not supported by the ground and it’s weight try to pull the pelvis downwards and this is opposed by the abductors’ action, so the hip remains still. When the abductors aren’t functioning properly, they can’t oppose the leg’s weight and can’t pull the hip, so the hip is tilted downwards ?
