The minority have nice names like capitalists and rentier capitalist landlords.
@jane19753 жыл бұрын
@@Nine-Signs What a load of crap, the capitalist part of our economy is the Private sector ( all the businesses, small and large and restaurants and eateries and pubs and of course the Private Schools) it’s the public sector ( Socialist part) that sits on its laurels and shoves paper all day and does squat all for their pay, most of which want indefinite furlough. Capitalists work for a living, it’s the socialists that are constantly striking for more pay they haven’t even worked for, that’s the reason why Scotland is a mess because 80% of its people belong to their pretend parliament, only 20% are actually working in the private sector, the rest are work shy on welfare, whilst Nicola Sturgeon and her party take the British taxpayers money ( only 1 million Scots pay it and its very high, so the rest is coming from the English, whom the SNP hate ) via the Barnet System subsidy and are not redistributing it like they are supposed to, they are just putting it a vault someplace and siphoning it off for themselves. You are surrounded by capitalism everyday, everything in your own home is down to capitalism, because capitalists produce things, manufacture things whereas Socialist/Communist economies fail because they don’t produce anything and they are all poverty stricken. You cannot have socialism without capitalism, even welfare is capitalism. Even Del Boy selling dodgy gear is capitalism. The socialist ideology of redistribution of wealth ( invariably someone else hard earned wealth via high taxation) and public ownership of all business and industry, fails and doesn’t pay the bills - only capitalism does. That’s why when people get to around 35-40 they change their political outlook and become centre right capitalists rather than lefties ( unless as I said, they are extremely wealthy) as the often by that time have a family to support, a mortgage to pay and a car to run. Their former outlook doesn’t work in reality.

As this was originally meant to be grandad theres a bit of a goof in Albert's war storys. He def def did travel the world on ships etc cause there is proof of this through out later ofah series. @somerandomguy20733 жыл бұрын
They originally intended Albert's stories to be 95% bullshit with a much more mundane real war service, but they didn't want to look like they were mocking those that fought in WW2, so they changed tact and made his stories true. If you rewatch series 4, then you'll see that's pretty consistent. He was a boiler maintenance man for a bit and worked in a storage depot. Rodney even calls out in his first episode that he's clearly making up all of his war stories. They spoke about it in 'The Story of Only Fools and Horses' documentary.
@donnn-ow4rj3 жыл бұрын
@@somerandomguy2073 that's interesting. I saw that ofah documentary but dont recall that? I agree the boiler maintenance from Albert was also mentioned in to hull and back. So did a touch of glass. That one came from John Sullivan's father and was a true story and when John's father first told John about it John Sullivan thought it was hilarious and was laughing but his father was not amused because it was back in the days of the depression where if you lost your job you could starve to death so John's father was incredibly serious about it. Funny thing is when OFAH episodes were originally broadcast, John's father would always ring him afterwards when they had finished but for A Touch of glass John was actually dreading his father ringing but when his Dad called he said "Yeah you're right it was funny!

@@d8456no that’s incorrect. Pearce (Grandad) died during the filming of Hole in One (this episode). He had done a small amount of location filming. After his death the episode Strained Relations was written specifically to give Pearce an on screen funeral and to introduce his replacement Uncle Albert. Hole in One was re-filmed with Uncle Albert and placed after Strained Relations in the running order of the series (series 4).

The end of the episode is the most funny. Grandpa tells why he lied in court. He was trying to raise money for a gravestone on his elder brothers grave.

During cross examination the solicitor says " jumping off ov fings " exactly as Uncle Albert pronounced it. At that point the sarcasm was as pointed and as deadly as a rapier. Case over bar the shouting.
