Can't fully sympathize with King given the fact that they got together through his own infidelity. How you get them is how you lose them, so turnabout was indeed fair play.

This is a wild story and a good video telling this story. Ivory (Lisa Moretti) revealed in a shoot interview that many people (except Lawler) knew that The Kat was cheating on him with a few people, including (allegedly) the photographer that did the Diva Shoots as well as one of the Dupp brothers (proven to be true), which is why people didn’t like The Kat.

I remember when this went down. Jerry had, for the time, a pretty developed website and blog and he made a fairly candid post after the fall out, discussing his comfortable financial position and that working was more about enjoyment and keeping active than anything for him. Once they split, he was back in WWF quite quickly and was welcomed back with open arms.

I was a regular watcher of Jerry Lawler's USWA wrestling as a kid and I can truthfully say Stacy Carter made her debut on USWA wrestling and not Power Pro Wrestling before she ever debut on WWE TV. USWA started using her as a ringside commentator after having WWE's Sunny as a guest commentator realizing how successful her appearance was to the male demographic of the show. Carter was used in the same way as a ratings draw before leaving for WWE full time as Ms.Kitty.

My first live wrestling event was Stacy’s final WWF TV appearance, when RTC introduced her as their newest member and she came to the ring in the white suit. I remember after her and Lawler disappeared the following week, rumors were swirling that she had refused a lesbian storyline and was fired. Immediately the rumors were also that Lawler had quit in solidarity with her, which turned out to be true. It’s so weird to me they could be friends now, considering her apparent multiple affairs and trying to take his money.

Given what we now know about Vince McMahon it could possibly be that she got fired because she wouldn’t sleep with him. Stacey was probably loyal to Jerry and she refused to put out for Vincent Man so he just fired her as retaliation. Again, this is just my hypothesis. They do things sometimes without reason or they have reasons and we can’t fathom what they are. Maybe she didn’t like that. Maybe there’s something about him. She found repulsive. We don’t know, but the possibility still remains that given his track record, he came on to her, and she still said no. even a horse have standards. Usually they come in a price. They put on what's often called "the world's best indy match" with the Hardys for OMEGA in either Knightdale or Zebulon NC, right around the same time M&J got signed to WWE full time, probably 99. I'm sure there's tape of it floating around on the trade scene if it's not available pseudo-commercially somewhere.

Head of NBC told Vince and the announce team not to badmouth any of them. Lawler did anyway. NBC wanted Vince to fire Lawler but Lawler's contact was iron clad. They could however fire his wife. Knowing Lawler would quit if she was fired they used the classic "Creative has nothing for you" The book is called "Long Bomb" it's a good read.

This situation always bothered me. On one hand I can see how some might not have liked Stacy; she probably felt entitled just because of her relationship with Jerry. But on the other hand, she'd been around the business for ages by that point. And with all the Vince scandals that have come to light, it makes me question his real motives for firing her. All that aside, it definitely sucks that Jerry stuck his neck out for Stacy, only to have her both cheat & leave him.

I think he added some needed clarity. He mentioned she wasn’t hard to work with as much as she’d ask questions about the angles and storylines offered to her, how does it help her character etc.

I know The King has had quite a few issues over the years, but I never have anything bad to say about him. However, when it comes to this situation, Jerry holds a great amount of the blame for it. I mean he handled it completely wrong from the start. He definitely shouldn't have hooked up with Kat in the first place since he was already married. That was his first and biggest mistake. Even though he did get what he deserved in the end, he still got off pretty light. He could have had it much worse.

There was also a rumor that Vince fired her because she wouldn’t sleep with him

He was in his early 50's. She had to have been at least 30 years his junior. He had to have seen a potential cheating/divorce coming at some point in the future.

@@mkultra5752 not sure but from what I read somewhere it seems she didn't have a very good lawyer so I don't think she took Jerry for much. Think it's a pretty good deal from what I heard he did with her LOL

Well this was the eye candy period in WWF/WWE for women's wrestling. Many of the legit women's wrestlers of this time had to play second fiddle to Sable, Kat, Debra etc that weren't too talented in the ring.

This matter was a bad one, but Lawler has seen been working for WWE, so I figured they reconciled.
