"It is your duty to raise them up" This is why I love Fulgrim. He was an inspiring figure, not complacent towards the failings of humanity but still capable of compassion towards the common people. A sculptor of human potential, a living image of what everyone could become under the Imperial Truth. The peacock exterior hid a noble soul and the arrogance that would become his trademark after the fall was still a pure, almost kind ambition. I can't wait for the Psychic Awakening for Fabius though; while he may be a certified sick fuck, I feel like he's the only one still upholding the ideal of a shared improvement. Fulgrim was supposed to not only be the diplomat, but the Face of the Primarchs and the Imperium wherever his father couldn't go. He is perhaps the only Primarch that would be able to stop volatile rebellions with the spoken word alone, rather than having to enforce the threat of bloodshed. He was supposed to be that blazing phoenix of hope that shines light in the darkest times with its flames, to both citizen and soldier alike to give them hope and love rather than fear and malcontent anger. The formidable power to inspire and persuade would have been his gifts to the Imperium if only he hadn't fallen and considering how sorely that is needed for Mankind now, it makes his fall all the more tragic.

This book showed how Fulgrim tried to show a better, less violent way to induct new worlds, it was admirable. Ever notice that the Emperor seamed to have partial redundancies in the Primachs, where a trait that one of the Primachs has is often mirrors (sort of) in another Primach. So Kurz and Sangunius were Prophetic (basically Kurz was Corax + Sangunius), but Sangunius was a wonder to the populous and a natural leader for them, will in the same regard as for that trait, Fulgrim was the redundancy for that trait. In all likelihood, the Emp always knew he would loose half or so of his Primachs, such redundancies meant that he would still have access to most of the roles AFTER the rebellion.
@Crowbro6664 жыл бұрын

It’s becoming clearer that the Primarchs were numbered 20 for a reason, cfr. John Grammaticus and the creation language. Perhaps the Emperor’s deal with the chaos gods was a greater game than they could ever have perceived: 2 for the pyre, hidden from view or kept in hand for the Emperor, 4 for the Gods, 4 for the Emperor and 5 to turn either way. Maybe it didn’t matter which 4, which is why it broke the Emperor’s heart that it was Horus. All are in balance - the Lion Johnson and the Hydra Alpharius, the Wolf Horus and the Bear Russ, the Raven Corax and the Bat Kurze, the Drake Vulkan and the Serpent Lorgar, the Castle Dorn and the Siege Perturabo, the Sorceror Magnus and the Magister Mortarion, the Passion Sanguinius and the Fury Angron, the Beauty Fulgrim and the Beast Ferrus, the Wind Jaghatai and the Rock Guilliman. Perhaps as a whole they were a perfect balance. Removing 2 and 11 threw the other traits out of balance. The Emperor’s gambit and exchange with the Chaos Gods for the power of creation and a limited time until the debt came due. Explains his haste to return to the dungeons and succeed in his webway project to link the human worlds before finally purging the psykers and effectively destroying the Chaos gods through starvation. Can’t wait.
@jackblack96055 ай бұрын
Fulgrim was charismatic like Horus, had management skills like Guilliman, smiting skills like Vulkan and Ferrus, and was a warrior and duelist equivalent to the Lion and Russ. Sure, he wasn't the best, but he was the second best in all those areas and was an all-rounder. Almost seem redundant that he had all of these qualities but it really feels like Fulgrim was meant for the post-Crusade era, where he and his legion would shine. While the other Primarchs were built for war, Fulgrim and his legion would basically represent the Emperor's idealism and be the standard that the Imperium's common people would strive for. I could see the other legions being repurposed for defense duties near the Imperium's fringe against the Orks and other xenos, while Fulgrim and the Emperor's Children would essentially be going around the Imperium to spread that optimistic perfectionism of every individual and achieving it for the Imperium.

I echo your thoughts. I love pre fall EC. I have a large 30k collection of them and even when I use them in 40k games they are still the purple and gold. This book was a great look at the real Fulgrim before the sword and the taint. I hate that Fulgrim is this almost comic villain of ego and pride to most 40k fans when he's a rich, complex character whose fall is the most complete and the most tragic. The loyal clone that the Necron has trapped simply has to be freed and come into the tabletop and 40k storyline. I want to see a multi purpose model set like Morathi in Sigmar for 40k Fulgrim. You can either build him as the snake body demon primarch OR build him as the cloned loyal Fulgrim. You have different rules for whichever one you make. One of the things that I love about the Heresy series is that we get hints and clues of what the Primarchs (loyalist and traitor) could have been to the Imperium. Past their use as generals and conquerors. The things that would have made them paragons of humanity. Examples for the masses to aspire to. True guardians and shepherds. Makes their betrayal all the more tragic.

Fulgrim's betrayal is an important story, as it shows that even the best can fall. It aligns perfectly with the dark grittiness, that is the warhammer universe. A tale of Fulgrim's redemption would show that despite the grime, light can be found in even the darkest, most corrupted places. From a storytelling point of view that could make for some truly epic, lorebuilding moments. Personally I hope for a Fulgrim vs Clone Fulgrim showdown. Think of the feels sparked by that.

I sometimes find myself wondering what relations must have been like between the Emperor's Children and Death Guard. So much of the Death Guard's ideology is wrapped up around the toxic, inhospitable atmosphere of Barbarus, and how it hardened Mortarion and them into the resilient warriors they became. I wonder if they see a similar genesis in the Emperor's Children, or if they're more like "You had a perfectly good hell-hole, and you made it... quite nice!"

its said that the Primarchs had intersecting traits in various degrees, it seems that Fulgrim and Sanguinius shared that aura of Majesty the Great Angel is so known for

Please do one on Corvus Corax he is my absolute favorite. To me he is the Batman of Warhammer not the night haunter. It blows me away when people say that. Out of the 2 Corax would be the one to come from the shadows and save you not kill you. Everything he does is for his sons and his father. He sees all people of the universe as people worth saving. Everything he does touches him deep in his soul. He doesn't want max murder with carnage. He sees what needs done and finds the path that will get it done and be gone. He has never used he godlike status for his own means or for fear. He holds them until he has too. He gets past over time again by people because he is humble. The Raven Guard took the biggest hit in the massacre but he didn't give up. He fought on with what he had and even went out to take on Angron. How many could have gone through all that for weeks and remained loyal and sane? He didn't leave his sons because he wanted to. He left to hunt down the traders so he wouldn't lose any more of them. His love for his sons is next level. They are not a tool to be used but his family. The abilities he has in the fade is him finally letting himself to let go and be who was made to be. When he does his core is still pure and his mission never changes. I could keep going but if people can't see him how I do by now then they never will. thank you for your time Amy🛡️

I think the most tragic part of the heresy is that all of the more "human" Primarcs fell while the more distant and "other" ones remained loyal.

I honestly rly want to see guiliman interact with the Fulgrim clone, even if it ends in guiliman just killing him i think the interaction would be cool to see

It makes sense for the primarchs to be stewards for humanity. Making them angry or uncaring for mere humans all the time just doesnt make sense if they wanted people to lead and follow them. Making them more caring warriors like they're civilization bringers makes more sense when trying to reclaim humanity's empire in the great crusade.

Man I hope after the Horus Heresy we get the great scouring or the unification wars that lead into the Great Crusade. Primarchs are so great we can have 40k for grim dark and 30k for that epic scifi feel with demigods and the Emperor.

Fulgrim was one of the noblest of the Primarchs... But.maybe, the Fulgrim Clone can take his place in the 42nd Millenium and inspire the Imperium

The best and most tragic of the traitor Primarchs. I don't even think his drive for perfection and arragance would have been as destructive as they were without the daemonic corruption. The love for humanity of Vulkan, the skill at arms of Jaghatai, the military genius of the lion, and the strategic insight of Guilliman and craftmanship of Ferrus all rolled into one. If he'd sinply not fought the Laeren, he'd have been remembered as amongst the greatest of his brothers, up there with Sanguinius, Dorn and Guilliman.

It's kind of a catch-22 on bringing back Fulgrim. First of all it'd have to be a major event in the 40K universe to have the Collector release "prize" pieces of his collection(example the Fall of Cadia). In tandem of somehow Manus getting back in to settle the score aka revenge drawing in the original Fulgrim. It's a premise that has to be thought out well or it will fall flat for there are some 40K novels that do that unfortunately.
