Podcast is Called : ASN Humans Are Space Orcs , HFY and other stories
--------------
This Story is Classified as HFY or Humanity Feck, Yea , but what does the Mean?
-------------
HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.
-------------
Taken from the FAQ of the r/HFY subreddit.
Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

You call this a war this silly little thing this isn't a war I have fought in bigger wars than you could ever know I have done things you could never understand I have seen things you can never imagine and when I close my EYE'S I hear more screams than anyone could ever count and do you know what you do with all that pain? You hold it tight until it burns your hand and you say no more nobody else will ever have to feel this pain! - the doctor

That line, when I heard that. That actually made me sit up in my chair and stare at the screen, wide eyed. There is more power in that line, then any other i have seen. One would think "I'm not locked in here with you, your locked in here with me" ( -Rochach) is powerful, but it holds nothing to that of the Doctor's. The very words chosen, and put in that order, screams -- No -- BELLOWS sadness. As if a personal defeat. "Good people don't need rules to be good." - A lot of people today barely understand the power of that sentence alone. But for him to say it. It just hits in a way. Another way to say it would be: "Rules guide me, unlike good people, who do not need any." Is just impactful, if you know the context. Imagine: You stand before the most wonderful (wo)man, the (wo)man whom all aspire to be, and they simply say: "I'm guided by rules, not goodness. Good people don't need rules." Everything you thought you knew of the (wo)man is torn down. And you learn that such a person, is in fact, not so good after all.

"When your enemies defy you, you must serve them steel and fire. When they go to their knees, however, you must help them to their feet again." --Tywin Lannister
@Nempo13
@Nempo13 7 ай бұрын
Which is taken from a Roman Legionnaire that more than a few may or may not know, Scipio Africanus. "When your enemies stand defiant, crush them by blade and fire. When they are defeated and crushed under heel, you help them to their feet and bring them into your fold. In this way their strength becomes yours and old hatreds are removed." Caesar lived by this mantra and it was VERY effective.
@theengagedfew
@theengagedfew 7 ай бұрын
@@Nempo13 True, but Tywin's quote is from a different context. He was explaining to Joffrey why it was unwise to simply slaughter everyone, when a lord or lords rebelled. The rest of the quote is "Elsewise, no man will bend the knee to you." I think he was trying to tell the young psychopath that making every petty defiance a "two men enter, one man leaves" scenario was a bad idea because, sooner or later, the one who doesn't leave will be him.

Defeat your enemies and beat their sword into a plowshare, then give them the option of using a new sword or their old plowshare.
@Qilue
@Qilue 7 ай бұрын
@@Nempo13 Rather interesting that similarity as the progress of the war described at 6:40 reminded me of Cannae. Hannibal's front line was 'pushed back', the roman legions rushed forward. At this point, Hannibal's flanks encircled the romans and they were slaughtered.
@assemblyrequired7342
@assemblyrequired7342 7 ай бұрын
@@theengagedfew It's also useful against an enemy that is defiant by nature. For example, if the Klingons know that they are going to be slaughtered down to the last individual, they'll go out of their way to kill as many of their enemy as possible, just out of spite, AND to make their worlds unusable. A different enemy from rebelling lords, but eh, I could see Joffrey becoming a conqueror if he had the resources. Let's just say it's a good thing that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Westeros, or else a psychopath like Joffrey might have taught every living thing the meaning of "mutually assured destruction", because sometimes extinction can seem to be the lesser of two evils.

Loved this, I remember in basic training in the US Army talking about when rendering first aid, it does not matter who it is, enemy or friend. War is hell, we're all here whether we want to or not, but swallowing hate to save those you'd just as likely shoot is humanity. I don't WANT to kill you, but if you make me. War will come to you, Faster and stronger than you've ever seen. That being said, we will support your civilians, for no one wants innocent deaths. Those who do? Ask the Japanese how that went.

Reminds me of European history. After WW1 everyone blamed Germany and humiliated them. Which lead to an even more devastating war only 31 years later.
