As a social experiment, Tolu really showed how projection and insecurity is born. She immediately distrusted everyone bc she herself was distrustful. She couldn’t even be loyal to her own alliance. They started talking about Julie behind her back early on, then they were confused when Julie was hesitant with them as if she wouldn’t have noticed something like that. Tolu would accuse others of being fake, but she would act nice and understanding to Julie and Bryce but behind their backs say she didn’t trust or like them.

And yet she was right every single time. She wasn't projecting, she had a very realistic understanding of the situation she was in, and trusted her own gut which always turned out to be right. Yes she was nice and understanding to Julie and Bryce, and she was ALSO honest with them. The idea that you can't care about people while also having doubts or disagreeing with their behavior sometimes is stupid and causes so many issues both on these shows and in real life relationships. Winnie and Tolu were both extremely admirable in their consistent honesty with the other contestants, even when it was hard - the commitment to having the hard conversations and staying open in that way even though it makes you vulnerable is a huge sign of the respect they had for the people around them, which was unfortunately not always returned.

As an African immigrant I thought Tolu would be the person I would relate to the most but that could not have been further from the truth. She kept on nagging about how she had nothing when she came here but that's an experience I have not heard from an African immigrant or myself. Generally, we immigrate to the USA because it is peaceful and there is opportunity that if you work hard you can get somewhere. That idea alone is a privilege and the knowledge that so much of our brethren back home are struggling and did not get this opportunity grounds us and keeps us grateful. Secondly, extreme majority of African parents would never want their children to get money for them through those means. If I brought money home and my parents knew I did what she had to do, they would have said, "We raised you better than that. You brought shame to our home and if we could, we would have traded you for Brian as our son" lol and then throw the money back at my face. It was a breath of fresh air to see someone like Brian. In a world full of Tolu, Brian is why we should never give up on humanity. My second favorite was Julie because I think she is the most relatable. Brian was the hero we don't deserve, and Julie was the kind of person average people like us can aspire to be. Someone who screws up, learns from it and grows to become a beautiful human being. I am really happy she is no longer with Jake, he seemed like he has major issues with that "I am a leader, I am the smartest" incident.

You are just against Jake because he is so perfect? At least in the show. He wanted everyone to go with the money. Even Gasper acting nicey nicey voted lindsey out and lied abt it. I understood some of tolus decisons. Julie instantly showed she wasnt loyal to the girl group first. She was only loyal to jake who didnt even like her. The girls were honest and real with her, they confronted her antics and told her how was she sure that jake wouldnt choose brian over her. Her response was "why would they choose" that was wrong because if thats the case why would winnie and tolu had to choose. She didnt feel safe with them because she was never planning to vote out the guy she liked. Lindsey switched because she was loyal to bryce and when he left she didnt feel she had much of a connection with the girls, basically the only girls loyal to their group was jay, tolu, and winnie. The others were focused on the men and thats what messed them up. The males left on the other hand only gasper and brian were wonderful. I felt bad for bryce, i understand why he was voted out, but he was for the team and would have never done anything against the house, either way i get why he left so the only males left that were good were brian and gasper. Lindsey was the main villain of the show. She played both sides, and even didnt stick up for bryce, she was the biggest problem as she was completely disloyal. Julie wasnt loyal to an extent, but she was still more loyal then lindsey. Last but not least if tolu were truly smart she should have taken every offer she got once winnie left. For those saying she was manipulative duh. But she was also loyal to the girls group. She never went back on her word and thats what people arent seeing. She wasnt for the entire group, she was there just for the women and that teamed failed because of two individuals. Julie may have been a sneaky liar, but she was still trye to her word at least. Netflix = woke. And this is the irony of this reality show. In the very first episode we find Tolu playing the victimhood card and talking of trust. Yet, as proven in the last episode. She was one of the most dishonest and deceitful people in the house, but rationalize their actions by contineuously reminding everyone that she is a victim. When her name was randomly selected in the vault, all of a sudden she had "her power taken away". It is ridiculous for a participant in a game show to use these politically loaded phrases. You are in that house because you are greedy......full stop. Then, without trying to get to know Juelz and understand "his truth" (am I using this right), she immediately breaks the trust and start lying and scheming to get rid of him. Fully believing that she was wronged. For me there is a clear correlation between woke culture and an increase in narcissistic behaviour. Victimhood is becoming a commodity and ironically gives more power than it takes away. Full disclosure, I did not even watch all the episodes. In the end, skipped right to the end. The best part of this series is that it exposes wokeism for what it really is. I do understand that, compared to other Netflix offerings, the show is not overtly woke. But the little bit of woke culture it did showcase exposed the culture for it's greed, narcissism and self interest.

No hate to Tolu and Winnie but they were such two-faced contestants on the show. 1. Black/Africa Debate: Jake referring to them as African queens or whatever is absolutely wrong. However, its so hypocritical that they say that they are more than just their culture and in the next clip you seem them saying "Black Queens" "Black Twitter:. 2. Tolu and Winnie seemed so entitled that they are the only deserving winners. They form a group of girls with Tolu/Winnie wanting to even back-stab other girls. Then they decide to throw out whoever they feel like. When Winne faced the same fate, they are not okay with it. 3. Winnie and Tolu's entitlement about the whole blowing candle game. I mean they felt so entitled to know who did it. Like what the hell?
@thatdude0079 ай бұрын
In regards to your first point, there's nothing hypocritical about two BLACK WOMEN referring to each other as BLACK QUEENS. The race of the person matters in this case, because when it's just used between Black people, there isn't any doubt as to whether someone is attempting to reduce someone to just their race. "Black queen" is a cultural term that Black women regularly call each other affectionately as a way to uplift one another and acknowledge that their ancestors came from a land where Black people were kings and queens.

It’s ok for her to “play the game” but when someone else does, she has a big problem with it. Very manipulating and deceiving and hypocritical! She only thought of benefiting herself. I loved the show but I wish that towards the end they would’ve announced how much the sharing pot was before asking everyone to vote. Why have them make the decision to share or not before letting them know someone took that 25k. @@zozozozo-kw9xe fair point and about lindsey too. Reality TV shows are definitely hyper real and curated, still…we saw other players who were able to be decent human beings but Winnie and Tolu definitely were in there already causing disharmony and vileness and not once did they show remorse for their actions whilst simultaneously feeling hurt/offended when their same tactics are used against them. Lindsay is in this same boat for me as well. I’ve just met too many people like them in real life. Every time, against my better judgement, I will give the benefit of the doubt only to have that knife firmly placed somewhere on your back. I know this is entertainment, but it’s sad that Reality TV shows, specially this one really showcase the worst qualities of humanity save for those who chose to keep their integrity. I know no one is perfect, but I personally don’t think that “reality show contestants suffer from depression” should be a pass not to call out their behavior, perhaps they need to self reflect or seek actual help, because based on everything we saw from this show, the cognitive dissonance and entitlement from Tolu, Lindsay and Winnie was just gross and left such a bad taste in my mouth. Julie was up there too, but at least her redemption in the end really felt sincere and I was left believing that she had left that show with something more meaningful than just money, but I cannot say the same for Tolu. Every laurel she rested on seemed empty. Still, I know I have to also let go of my own biases and just wish her well and a better journey in life. I hope she can self reflect, watch the entire show objectively and ultimately learn and grow from her experience. Money isn’t everything, and struggling because of money is no excuse to sell your soul. But we are all human and deserve second chances, but as someone who has had to deal with people like this time and time again, I am glad that I have been setting my boundaries and you may not agree, but cutting people off like her who exhibit these toxic traits has been the best decision I have ever made in my life. At least this show reinforced that lesson for me…and also this show showed me Brian…that resting on your integrity and honesty is the right thing to do. It may not always work out in the short term, but karma has a way of setting things right.

It was very strange that Tolu comes into the show with every outfit including gigantic African continent shaped earings then Jake calls her an African queen in a genuine compliment, then she says; 'how can you emphasize me by my race', but isn't that what she's doing herself by wearing those earings. Then she actually cried and virtue signaled about it as if she's a victim, it really disgusts me. If you need constant affirmation that your existence is allowed then the problem is with you not others. I'm gay and I will never see myself as a victim we have our rights and so do black people, I'll even advocate for other peoples right to verbally insult or criticize me within reason because I believe in freedom of speech and also I'll know where I stand with them. In life not everyone will be your best friend and sometimes the fight isn't worth the battle. If someone thinks I'm going to hell for being gay, that's their choice to judge me, but there is One Judge over us all Who has the final say. There's nobody alive who has any authority to even speculate who's going where based off their sin, because we've all sinned, nobody is worthy, its by grace alone that anyone is saved. Woke culture is expiring, they all just need to chill out before free speech becomes a thing of the past. What it comes down to, is that I just want to watch Netflix without having to dodge political woke narratives that are weaved into every show.

Just because you easily make that in a year doesn't mean other people do. Some people work their entire lives and NEVER make that much in a year. What would change their lives (and the lives of others) clearly isn't the same for you, but that doesn't make them wrong. Some people are living on the streets or paycheck to paycheck, getting evicted from apartments because they can't make rent. 60K is without a doubt a life-changing amount of money if you haven't been fortunate enough to have access to it.
