The problem is, people turn up at A & E for silly things and waste doctors and nurses time. I had to take my husband the other week, and a man turned up and said his thumb was hurting a bit that morning, so he thought he would get it checked out, as it is a free service, and was laughing about it. What is wrong with some people?

The problem is, people can't get doctors appointments anymore. It's so hard to even speak to a doctor let alone see one in person so people don't know where to turn and so go to A&E

I’m a doctor 111 is a joke. Go to the A&E 111 gives a false sense of security. Take a taxi, ask a neighbour, bus. Do not wait for an ambulance just go! You’ll die or it’ll get worse be you’re too cheap to get a free ride.

What are you talking about? I work at 111 and we tell people to go to A&E on a regular basis. We ask them to make their own way if they can, get a taxi or a lift etc. You shouldn't be posting on here scaring people. It might be useful for you to go into a 111 call centre and see what we actualy do. 111 redirects a lot of people who would have gone to A&E unnecessarily to more appropriate services.

You're right 111 is a joke. 1 hour and 40 minutes to just get someone to answer the phone. Shortest waiting time was 1 hour and then had to wait another 20 minutes or so for a nurse to call back. Friends and family have had similar waiting times.
