I have 1999 Accord with 313,000 and it still runs great with just occasional slips on the transmission and my 2013 Acura TL has 127,000 with absolutely no problem with the transmission. My wife has 07 Civic with 182,000 miles and all she does on that car is oil change but I have seen several friends with Toyota's having transmission and engine problems with less than 150,000 miles. I personally believe Toyota is just as good as Honda, but Honda has a better reliability than Toyota. Scotty like most old people, still believe that Toyota is still the same as they were several years ago but in reality, their reliability has taken a dip over the past few years mostly due to their ambition to become the largest car marker in the world thereby sub-contracting most of their manufacturing process to third parties companies all around the globe.

I have to disagree about Honda's Transmission. My sister bought a 93 Honda used with 75,000 miles. By the time she sold it she put a total of 188,000 miles on the car and the car was still in good condition. My sister only took the car to one mechanic she maintained the car with regular tune ups & winterizing. The basic service oil changes The only repair I recall she ever did was changed radiator

I've owned 2 Acuras and they both had a faulty air-conditioning system, that the dealership failed to see anything wrong with. When I was ready to sell the car, the same dealership told me they'd pay me $1,000 less than bluebook because the a/c compressor was "shot". The Acura rep also disapproved a warranty repair on me claiming it was my fault. Apparently, a small scratch of the right fender was the "cause" of my cooling system failing. What a load of crap!

@TheGamingWolfYT …the mods I added. ::kidding:: I added: >3.7L magnesium intake for a ZDX >3.7L throttle body >Throttle body spacer (increases intake fuel charge) >AEM cold air intake for a 3.5L J35 engine >Denso Iridium plugs >Performance engine mounts that virtually eliminate engine lash upon acceleration >Exhaust tuned aftermarket J pipe (functions like headers) >High-flow mid catalytic converter >Greddy stage 3 custom mandrel bent racing exhaust system that increases pipe diameter by 1/2”, eliminates mud-muffler & resonator, and employs oversized Greddy straight flow-through muffler cans >Also coilover performance suspension, performance rear sway bar, brake upgrades to pads, stainless steel lines, & cross-drilled rotors. From reads of other Gen 3 TL owners off the Acurazine website who posted dyno results, my car is making around 290-300 flywheel up from stock 258. It feels faster & it corners like a go cart.

@danielmelendez9943
@danielmelendez9943 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately they decided the car was not making profits and it was getting costly to compete against Lexus, BMW and MB. Production dwindled and eventually they discontinued the Legend in the USA. 1st generation legend was an excellent handling car for the price and options, 2nd generation was a complete improvement over the previous model but the 3rd generation seems lost the overall feeling of luxury and lackluster design that extended into what we know as the acura RL re-design. Technically the Acura legend nameplate lasted 10 years. The RL was a poor redesign, aging design, in comparison to what lexus, MB and BMW had out in the market. Any of you still have an Acura Legend with under 100k miles that car has a lot of life.

Hey Scotty. I drive a 2017 Honda Civic that Has 20k miles. I’m running into issues when driving when it’s raining. It hydroplanes super easily and car feels like it wants to spin out when going 35+mph. However the tires are properly inflated and there still decent thread depth (not reaching the wear bar so over 2/32 I believe). I always had the wheels rotated every 5000miles and at 15000miles had an alignment done. All service was done at a Honda dealership. Should I buy new tires (looking at summer tires Bc I live in South Florida) or is there another issue? Never had this problem with other vehicles I have owned.

I have to agree with Scotty about the Honda/Acura transmission issue. In 2007 I bought two mini-vans within months of each other to carry the kids around, one Honda Odyssey and one Toyota Sienna. The Odyssey transmission did not want to go into Drive mode from time to time and it was replaced in a re-call from Honda. A few years later, I noticed it wasn't shifting smoothly either, so I sold it. Since I love Honda/Acura, I bought a 2013 Acura RDX and have to say that probably my last Honda/Acura purchase as I often said the RDX wasn't shifting smoothly either (And I can feel the engine vibrates - for a high tech V6, it is unusual). I still drive my 2007 Sienna as of today because it shift smoothly, its engine is very quiet without vibration whatsoever. I am looking to getting a 2019 or 2020 Highland :)... or maybe even a 2019 RAV4.
@md2k8

@EMichaelBall 6 жыл бұрын
Replace the RDX with a used Highlander, and save a few grand. Too much car debt can really be a pain if your job downsizes you into unemployment. Plus, those self-driving cars are coming, which will put car ownership into the rear-view mirror. Google and GM are already road-testing these cars. Toyota just partnered with Uber on self-driving technology. The smart money won't want to take on a bunch of car debt to buy something whose value will drop like a rock in five years' time or so (even Toyotas won't be immune). It may be best to keep the RDX and baby the transmission.

I hear you. I baby all my cars :). The 2013 RDX only has 30K on it and I will pass it on to the kid as trading in won't give me enough to get a decent used car. As long as its transmission won't go dead on me and cost me an arm and a leg to fix it, I will keep it .

@dcpc08161992
@dcpc08161992 6 жыл бұрын
It is not 0-60 that concerns me... I don't do drag race (you know I am an older man LOL). It is engine and transmission refinement (not engine vibration and no harness in shifting the gear) is what I am looking for. I hope the new engine and 10 speeds transmission they have in the 2019 is much better than the V6 they had in the previous generation. I owned three Acura so far, 1987 Integra, 1989 Legend, and the latest and current 2013 RDX so, I do love the Acura's handling until the 2013 - it 's disappointing.
