I am a 73 year old man and I have spent the better part of my life trying to understand why I seem to always feel a certain sadness in my heart. Then I thought, maybe this had something to do with it. Hopefully this story brings out others like me. In 1963 Zionists came to my home in Casablanca Morocco, to convince my parents to send me and my little sister to Israel without them. I was 12 and my sister 9 when we started our miserable journey to the "Promised land". It destroyed our family and left me and my sister with long lasting scars neither one of us has been able to heal. Being from Morocco made it even more difficult to live in a more racist country than Morocco ever was. We had a very peaceful life as Jews living amongst Muslims in Morocco. We understood each other and helped each other. To this day, the principal advisor to King Mohamed is a Jew. But the Zionists needed boddies to fill Israel and slowly claim more and more land from the Palestinians they kept displacing. The people running Israel are not Jews. True Jews would have helped the Palestinians evolve and share in their fortunes, like we did for centuries in the Arab world. Israel claims it is defending itself? Against whom? The people they have been displacing and opressing for 80 years? Israel, my advice to you, if you want to survive, get rid of the religious zealots who run your government and join the 21st century.

It’s not self-obsessed, it’s a discussion specifically about anti-semitism. If there’s some one talking about historic racism against Asians or black people you would you describe it as self-obsessed for someone to come in and talk about that? Just because of what’s going on now in Israel / Palestine doesn’t mean we abandon our Jewish friends, brothers and sisters in the fight against real racism. Get your philosophies straight. This wonderful intellectual woman is fighting the good fight against the craziness that has taken over our world. Please help her to that end. Even if you disagree with some of what she says.

If Israel is a democracy (and it is, for now, albeit flawed), then it has to be subject to criticism by its own Jewish citizens. Therefore criticism of Israel cannot be per se antisemitic.

She forgets the Enlightenment of the 19th century when Jews were emancipated and to a certain extent allowed to integrate. This means that pre-WWII, Jews often thought of themselves as being German or British or French etc and then Jewish, but Hitler ignored this and clumped all Jews into the same group.

The jews forget that it was jews and bankers in NY that stopped MS. St Louis (1939 May) for releasing Jews in NY (This was a plan from Hitler to transfer Jews to US. It failed.) Probably it was zionist that blocked very carefully the Transfer Aggrement and finally the Madagascar Project, i.e. there was always a subversion current within the jewish population that made possible a particular agenda and kept jews under strict control with what we see today. There is more to the subject than meets the eye. On the positive side, this conflict in Middle East brings some self reflection to the idea of Jew. Eventually some surprises, I suspect to see before I leave this world.

I couldn't have been racist about Jewish people before I was ten years or so old (1953, rural Ireland) as I didn't know there was such a thing as Jewish people because I had never heard of them. Then about the age of 13 Jews were mentioned - and that there may be prejudice - in an English class at school discussing 'The Merchant of Venice'. And I don't think the Holocaust was ever spoken about (it would be current affairs not history) back then.

That’s the whole point. The concept has been appropriated by a political regime and weaponised to shut down conversation that’s not to their liking. Do you think my dreams have any philosophical implications at all? I'm just a little concerned that I'm having a neurological malfunction! Given that I've heard my neurons conspiring to abandon the dwelling of my skull, things don't seem to be heading in the right direction, ever since!

What difference does skin color make when most of humanity is all mixed anyway? As for criticism of Israel, I don't call that antisemitism. Any crime like causing bodily harm to an Israeli, attacking cynagogues or painting swastikas on tombstones is antisemitism ! However, look at how Israel treats Palestinians by controlling their movement and denying them many basic human fundamental rights and don't tell me you Jews don't know about it you see it every day ! Israel goes out of its way to make life miserable for these people and I if I call Israel an apartheid state am I being antisemitic?
